Carbon Leather Trim Touch Up Paint/Dye

Hi Everyone,

The carbon leather trim to the left of my steering wheel has a small nick near the stitching. You can see it in the upper left corner of the trim.

Luckily, it's not in the weave. It's all one color. Has anyone re-dyed or touched up their carbon leather trim before? Is the upper area a standard BMW color?

It doesn't show up as well under my garage lights, but it really stands out under sunlight.

What am I missing? Looks like 2008 there to me.

Finally got the camera to focus. Here the chip in the leather.

Suggest counseling with an auto detail pro before making it look worse with a home remedy.

That's a really small defect, but I understand wanting to make it look better. I would use some black leather dye or some black shoe polish.

I use this stuff on my mountain bike seat tears, shoe repairs, seat repairs, but it's probably overkill for that tiny nick.

I still don't see anything with my snout effectively right on top of it.

If this is something worth fretting over, I can only imagine that the rest of the car must be beyond immaculate.

I had to right click on the picture and 'Open Image in New Tab" and then increase that image's size multiple times to see it.

If you ever sell the car, LMK. That Z4M must be absolutely immaculate.

Haha, I being pretty picky, but I've got some extra free time with the corona virus situation and am tackling some lingering projects. I'll try some shoe polish first since It'll come off easily if it doesn't work out. And I won't be selling the car anytime soon. This one's a keeper!

Yep, absolutely gorgeous. Space Gray works so well on this car, really happy to also have one of the 48 sold in our market.

A bit of Kiwi black leather shoe dye did the trick. It matched perfectly to the carbon leather.
