So i have a neighbor on my street who has owned his '07 Z4M since 2008. He is the second owner and bought it CPO'd at the time. he just hit 160K miles!

I don't know him personally only admired his car. Clearly he's enjoyed it throughout his ownership. Well he's getting ready to get into a 911 so will likely be trading this thing in. It is an '07 MC, not sure if Space Gray or Silver Gray. interior is black with nav.

The exterior is in good shape (could use a good professional detail), few nicks on the wheels here and there but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a car driven that much. He has done all maintenance when needed at a local indy (started at dealer then went to more cost effective approach). He is not a M community member so just someone who liked the car, bought it, enjoyed it, and maintained it per

Mileage is a bit high, but the price is great so if he's taken care of it then it could be great buy.

$7k? Unless it's a freaking disaster, which it sounds like it's not, you should be on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich, mileage be damned.

It's Silver Gray if it's an '07 - Space Gray is '08 only.

I alway's liked the "stains on a mattress" analogy, but you're on point just the same.

That's definitely more than fair, and with the quick responses seems like most anyone here would be glad to continue to take care of and enjoy it.

Guys, I'm sure you all are much more knowledgeable about Z4s than I am. I'm just a real "NEWBY", BUT, there lots of cars around the country with many less miles that are reasonably priced. I came near buying a 2003 2.5 sport in New Mexico for the asking price of $8000. It only had 66K miles. Just check out the CarGurus, and others. There's lots of good deals out there that sound better to me. Yes, I know, this one's an 2007, four years and second generation, but that's lots of miles. SORRY, IF I STEP ON SOME TOES.

Case in point. On Auto Trader there is a 2006 w/99K for $6995, private owner. A 2008 w/116K miles for $8950, a 2007 w/88K miles for $8499, a 2006 w/only 53K for $10,000 (paid too much for my 2004)

I think you are missing the fact that the M variant costs way more. 7k is a steal, even with those miles.

It's a learning process. There are a lot of Z variants, the /M coupe carrying the highest value, followed by the /M roadster, followed by the 3.0si coupe, then 3.0si roadster. Opinions vary a bit on this order of course, but generally speaking there's a variant hierarchy.

For reference, a ~50k mile 06 well maintained M coupe runs between 32-36k depending on NAV, no NAV, color combo, aero side skirts, bearings, Vanos upgrade, bushings and so forth replaced, wheels, and mods. That's a light year away from a 03 2.5 with 50k miles for 10k.

Miles count of course, but so does care and feeding and maintenance. I would much rather buy 100k -150k mike and 12-14 years old car that had been well cared for, maintained, with parts and bushings VANOS and so forth upgraded/replaced along the way, than a 50,000 mile 12-14 year old car that's been neglected, no parts replaced, driven hard, put away wet.

The car in question here has miles, but sounds like it's been owned by a typical forum member, who is obsessive about fluids and maintenance, and puts money in the car to keep it in top operating condition. 7k is a steal. Even if you factor in possibly replacing bearings / Vanos rebuild, and doing all of the bushings, even throw in a clutch, it's still a great deal.

I'd walk over to his house with $7K in hand (cash or cashiers check) to save him from the hassle of negotiating his 911 purchase by taking the trade complication out of the deal. It would be the neighborly thing to do.

It's ok. Really. No one jumped on you here, it's not our style.

We all get things wrong...I was off on my camber bolt reasoning just the other day lol.

Now you know more about models, market values, and whatnot. And I've been reminded about camber bolts, wheel angles, and helper springs relative to tire/wheel fitment.

It's an unusually civil forum, always has been, I think it's the niche/personalities attracted to these cars. It's always been very different than most online experiences.

Please, ask questions, participate, learn. Then pass it along

I'd go with "can 'o beans", but a ham sammich works too...
