diagnostic measurement of crank slip

"With our BMW diagnostic laptop, we can plug in to your car and ascertain if the crank bolt has slipped at all – remember, the ECU only shows an error once it has slipped a set amount."

from here: https://www.litchfieldmotors.com/blo...rank-hub-issue

How can this be measured please?

You can’t. Even if you measured the torque required to loosen the bolt, that doesn’t equate to the amount of torque the bolt was tightened with.

This company has been posted about before, except they had almost no pictures before.

Crank and individual cam deviation was measured by the DME on plenty of older engines (S62/S54/S85) and simpler DMEs to determine mechanical timing and VANOS faults.

Just a thought...

The question wasn’t about measuring engine timing, it’s specifically about bolt torque.
