6-speed question
I realized that a lot of times I can get my car going simply by easing off the clutch with no gas at all. I just Want to make sure I’m not causing any long term damage.
Also I rarely Use 6th gear. Maybe if I’m on the highway taking it easy. But i get the same gas mileage with or without. |

A lot of modern manual cars have anti stall. The ecu bumps the rev as you engage the clutch slowly; which kinda omits the need to feather the throttle while letting go of clutch like the good ole manuals of the past. So in short there won't be excessive clutch wear that you are worried about.
Using or not using 6th is a preference, but at cruising speeds having the revs low will definitely be an improvement in mpg. However in scenarios where u're at a lower rev range going up a hill or passing a car and you're applying higher load, it's better to downshift into a lower gear. This way you won't have to apply more throttle and in turn improve mpg. |
