Why so many JB4's for sale?

As the title says, there seem to be a lot of JB4's for sale in the classified section. Just curious as to why.

Remaps are superior and now with obd access reasonably simple from a technical standpoint.

In addition there is no difference in detectability by BMW.

So the real question is - why aren't more for sale?

Because people are dumb and would rather pay more for a OBD2 flash from another vendor then get their $295 MHD unlock and then get the free BEF from Terry @ BMS to have the best of both worlds.

Someone once said "JB4's are great bc you can re sell them...". Although that's true, it appears that you can't even give them away these days. Flash tunes are presently dominating the market and have rendered products like the JB4/Active8 obsolete.

A lot of it is cars coming off lease and mods being removed before they are turned in, I expect. There is also a growing group of flash only cars now that OBDII flashing is out and the cars are coming out of warranty.

As to the JB4 specifically the latest free JB4 SS BEF maps are pretty good though and definitely provide power, features, and functions not possible flash only. And for not much addl cost also. I expect many of those reselling their JB4s now will be buying another one in the future. It's a great tuning tool.

And what’s hypocritical I ask about my statement , makes no sense what you are saying! I’m stating documented situations with jb4 tunes without and witn flashes being problematic. Only appears to work when you use with flash and set to map zero has been reported as well when stacked with flash. On the N55 the jb4 tune sucks! S55 cars are not the only cars using jb4s

Sound butt hurt,dont take it personal! Dude he's not the only one alot of folks complaining about herky jerky acceleration the list goes on. Works great on N54

FACT!! EVERYONE is getting rid of it! FACT!Flash tunes are better than piggy backs PERIOD! Why tuners are now pushing them hard and they are selling.

Now take a chill pill! Its good for logging though.

What I like about jb, especially stage 1 is that it gives a bit of extra power without making me change bunch of parts and do all kinds of coding

Spending more time in the city then closed Mexican roads I have no need to 600 whp. So for someone like me it's perfect, easy install and no headache.

For people who want to go all out, there are better ways.
Think of business perspective, there are much more people like me then all out tunners. So bms is much more successful then flash tunners.

I go with their products because of reliability and support and of course price and resale value

Piggy backs are and will be a thing of the PAST!! Have not used a piggy back since the early 90s it was called APEXi and before that HKS VPC you probably were not even born!
