6mt question
I am getting ready to move on to 6mt from dct
I have test drove before but one question came up in my head So this auto rev match thing ... If I shift into lower gear, it automatically rev matches for you even tho you don’t let the clutch out .. So my question is if I was going 60 and put into 2nd and keep the clutch in, in regular car it will be fine until I let the clutch go .. But in auto rev match, will it blow up??? Or it won’t rev match since car knows it will over rev? Thank you advance ! |

Autorev match will not exceed redline.

No the rev match is still limited by the cars redline. It would not over rev unless you let out the clutch thereby forcing the revs above redline.

As others have stated, the rev match will not blow up the motor.
If you money shift, it won't be the rev match that does it. It'll be because you put it in the wrong gear and engaged it. |

I almost money shifted my car when I accidentally pulled the shift lever from 3rd near redline into 2nd instead of 4th. The auto rev match worked as intended shooting revs sky high. Don't know if it exceeded redline or reached fuel cut off because I immediately pulled it out of 2nd gear. Thanks to the super loud/high rev, I didn't release the clutch pedal and saved myself from a money shift.
So, yes, it WILL try to match revs, but only YOU can money shift by releasing the clutch. Even if the ECU was smart enough to know that it shouldn't try to rev match in a lower gear, and is programmed to ignore the mis-shift into the lower gear, the second you release the clutch pedal, because you have placed the transmission into a gear that will spin your motor past redline, YES, you will money shift even if rev match doesn't work. This is how people traditonally blew up their motors back when rev matching didn't exist. |
