What spare parts make their way to the track with you?
Absolutely love my e92 m3, but she seems to be picky and I have been missing a lot of sessions for one various reason or another. Some things would have been easy to fix if only i had the right parts on hand...
That being said, what is everyone's suggestion for spare parts to start stocking in the toolbox of my trailer? Right now I travel with (pretty much because I have replaced them all at one point or another on the track): Pads (2 extra Sets) Rotors (1 Front 1 Rear) Plugs (4) Coils (3) Injectors (2) brake vaccum sensor (1) 02 sensor (1) Anything else you guys suggest/am I missing? |

How much tracking do you do? Your list is what a serious track team takes. I highly doubt someone at a SCCA Track Night in America event would need that stuff, you could limp home without the need for anything on that list.
My list: Helmet/gloves Torque wrench with lug socket DeWalt impact wrench Tire pressure gauge 2x 1 quart oil bottles Oil funnel Duct tape Painters tape (to tape up my plate and my VIN for the track urban legend insurance adjusters) Knife Flashlight Spray wax Glass cleaner Microfibers GoPro Water/gatorade (hydration is important) Spare change of clothes for those 90-100 degree track days Spare wheel/tire (usually just a wheel from my winter set) Harbor freight aluminium low profile floor jack This list of items easily gets you by at any low tier track day like a SCCA track day or SCCAs Track Night in America program. Your list with spare parts is more if you are taking part in some Time Attack or racing where you would actually need to change parts to compete. In my case anything you listed as a spare part I would just deal with the light on the dash until I got home. |

Wow.. aside from personal items and helmet/tape for numbering/camera for footage and the usual... it's just:
- torque wrench & socket - breaker bar - a few extra wheel bolts - extra bottle of 10w60 as usual - tire pressure gauge as usual - tire inflator as usual |

I take
-torque wrench + lug bolt bit -impact wrench -extra lug bolts -extra front pads -pressure gauge with bleeding button -spare oil, power steering and brake fluid -brake bleeding bottle with one-way valve and (drum roll) -4 track wheels stacked across the rear seats. Also a cheap folding plastic seat to sit on when fiddling with the wheels, true LPT that. |

I guess it depends how hardcore you're going. My car is relatively stock and I run street tires all day on track. I do my track prep at home before going i.e. change fluids, bleed brakes, change pads if necessary. Even then, my brake fluid and pads last quite a few track days. Often they do not need to be changed. My car rarely burns oil so I find I never need to top off oil between oil changes.
I just bring my tool box with basic tools such as sockets, ratchets, tire pressure gauge etc. I'll bring a seat to sit on and water. That's usually all I need on a track day.

I don't enjoy leaving a pile of expensive shit laying around on a tarp at track days. I don't trust people enough to have my equipment unsecured.
If you are one of those people who have to have a spare of everything, with enough equipment to change them as needed, you need a trailer, tow rig, and a lockable storage unit on the trailer for your parts and tools. Just my opinion. My kit includes, 1 bottle of brake fluid 1 bottle of oil helmet gloves shoes water If I need anything more than that, it's getting towed home.

Maybe I'm just unlucky. I missed two days last years with a blown brake vaccum sensor. Fast forward two weeks to my next weekend, and she went down with a coil, and I lost a day and three sessions heading to greensboro to get a spare coil. Two sessions later, lost what I thought was another coil and ended up being an oxygen sensor....
It sucks spending money on spare parts, but I really hate spending 450 a weekend, and throwing it away because of a 80 dollar part... |

For my 1st track event I plan on taking, tire pressure ga., jack, cordless impact, duct tape, zip ties, and basic tool kit. Helmet, gloves, camelback.
I'll see if I need anything else based on how it all goes. I have to drive 4hrs one way with the car so I rather not bring a whole bunch of stuff that would need to be moved around.
