Conti ECS 275/35 + 295/35 on 437M anyone?

Has anyone tried this combo?

CanAut's analysis of the MPSS 275/35 + 295/35 was not favorable due to issues with poor wear and aquaplaning. Curious if the new Contis fare better in these regards.

Icing on the cake would be if you've got 'em on the MP HAS with fronts lowered all the way and can confirm fitment!

Thx

I think his analysis was more related to the size of the tires and not specifically that they were PSS. The wider you go the less aquaplaning resistance generally.

275 on the front is pretty big and the sidewalls would likely look bulged from being squeezed on to a wheel too small.

I'm still on the original tires, but the 763m set comes with 265/285 on the same width as the 437m's. I've seen that set on cars and it looks perfectly normal. 275 does seem a bit strong for a 9 inch wheel. Posts on other threads report that 265 in the front reduces understeer but doesn't create trammeling. Those who have gone with 265 seem to like it. It's probably what I'll do for my next set, likely with 275 in the back though.

Thanks guys

I'm just curious, why going down to 275 from 285 in the rear?

If that's directed at me, then the reason is that BMW uses the stagger deliberately to induce understeer. They do this presumably to keep some of the drivers safe. My preference is just to dial some of that understeer out, but not all of it. On an E39 540 I once had, I accomplished the same thing by putting on an M5 rear bar, but that was a pretty easy mod. Also, I have no interest in standing starts, so no need for more rubber in the back.

Didn’t CanAutM3 say 265 fronts not 275?

AMG GT S fronts 265 and M5 rear 295 was the combo

I’m on 295 M5 spec rears and original 255 fronts and I’m pretty damn happy.

275/30-19 & 295/30-19 Kumho Ecsta PS91 on 437M. 295 is fine on 10" wide wheel...BMW M5 comes from factory this way.

I believe the 295s on the M5 are specially designed for a 10" wide wheel whereas the typical non-M5 spec 295 tires is designed for a 10.5" wheel. A regular 295 tire would still fit a 10" wheel just be slightly "squished".
