It's understandable so seller doesn't get hit with 4% PayPal fee so he can minimize his loss.
When I got mine from our forum vendor, even they requested PayPal friend in order to give me the best price (which is still 35 dollars more than what the seller is selling FYI)

Interesting.... so what would happen if I paid someone through friends and family and they decided to keep my money and not ship the item? Would I still be able to make a claim with paypal to get my money back?

Everyone asks for friends and family but I never do to protect myself. Bunch of scammers in this world. Actually got scammed once for 100$

Thats why the buyer pays 3% fee to protect themselves
