Track Gear Canada (Montreal)
Hi guys,
Where you you go to get track equipment in Canada (ideally in Montreal area)? I will be going to the track with my car and I am looking to purchase a helmet (open face) and brake pads for my M2. The helmet is a requirement from my local track club. The track pads are just a guess from my side. Is it overkill? Please comment. Thanks!

Perry Auto in Laval is my local go-to (they have a discount for BMW QC club members). Otherwise, I've gotten some Pagid pads from sportscarboutique in Toronto that Perry didn't carry and they ship Canada wide.
Unfortunately we don't have many stores to choose from in Montreal. For your first time out, you'll be fine with stock pads and fluid but if you go more than twice, I'd think about upgrading the pads. You should be OK with stock fluid at Tremblant. |

I second Perry auto. I have not been but have had more than one reference.
As for pads, I tracked Tremblant in my E90 with stock brakes and they fade by lap 5-6 of 8. It's really obvious. For the upcoming season, I'm going with either Hawk Dtc-60 or pagid yellows. Also, I'm getting track wheels and rubber. FYI, I still have my 245/265 sport Cup 2s for sale if you need M2 rubber.

Perry is the place to go. I shopped there for a few times in the past. I believe they also sponsor race events so they would be knowledgable of track related items.
Definitely get some track front pads. Its easy enough to swap out. I was feeling my pedal getting a little soft with my stock pads, when i was at Nurburgring last month. |

Perry Auto in Laval is the place to go then. I will try to go there and check in the near future. Thanks for info! Really appreciated.

I tried the original R888 once when I could not get a set of NT01 and I did not like them much. They gripped fantastically when new, much more than the NT01, but they heat cycled out very fast and lost their grip. Apparently, the new R888R now use the same rubber compound as the NT01 (which is apparently the same as the old beloved RA1). So it should be a rather good tire. I will try it at some point.

Pneu Touchette Motorsport also have very decent prices for track tires. Further, they offer the service of bringing the tires to the Tremblant track for you and install them on site. This is very practical to wear down tire to the max. For instance, if you are planning for a 2 day event and don't have quite enough tread left to last 2 days, you would normally change the tires before the event. With this service, you just ask them to bring the tire to the track, start the event with your old tire and when you have cord showing, you just go to their trailer and have them install your new tires. Very convenient and is well worth the few extra dollars.

Just personal experience from 1010 tires was that they are really not knowledgeable with regards to figment. Sorry to be a downer with them but don't want anyone getting caught the way I did last year. It's just not worth it.

Perry Auto Laval, the helmet guy will just drown you with information ... I drove stock brakes on all my St Eustache/LCMT outings, no brake fading but maybe I just baby them and don't go too fast but then again we are there to learn ! You are also ok with stock brake oil and tires for few outings... I drove my M4 completely stock (I nor you are not @canautm3 )

I have the same helmet as Nik, it's been shelved for one year. I thought of selling it but part of me doesn't want let it go ... it's the best lightest least expensive ones. If you search in the track sub forum you'll see my gear
