New M3 pick-up tomorrow!
Just a quick note to thank the bimmerpost community for all the valuable advice, tips and info - truly the best resource out there for current and aspiring BMW owners!
It has been 10 months since I ordered my M3, first as a 2017 model, then re-ordered as a 2018 when it failed to get built in time due to the North American production halt from March-June. It has been a long wait needless to say, but reading the many threads with so many great photos and videos on f80 bimmerpost has kept me going! This will be my first M3 and first 'new' car as I typically buy 1-2 year old cars - coming from an '15 Audi S4, and some years ago an '07 335i with Dinan tune. When BMW offered up the 'Ultimate Package', which included a selection of individual colours, one of which was Laguna Seca Blue - my fate was sealed. My car is LSB Ultimate package, which includes just about every option, (full carbon package, competition pack, full leather, MPE etc) except CCB. I went with DCT, a sunroof, black 666s, and individual Amaro Brown leather interior, + carbon trim. I've already had 20% tint done and the M4 sideskirts, modified to fit M3, installed. It will be off to get ceramic coating and PPF on front bumper, partial hood/fender, mirror, rockers, and extended rear wheel area as soon as I can get it booked in. For now I will try to keep it off the highway until the paint protection is in place. Here are some lousy teaser photos of the car just arrived at the dealer to tide you over. I promise a proper photo shoot including interior as soon as the paint protection is complete. I will be picking her up Friday afternoon - looking forward to the weekend! Congrats! You're going to love every moment you step on that pedal. I am still at 1400 KM, so I am still trying to be as gentle as possible before the break-in period is over. It feels like the longest 2000 KM ever!!!!
I ordered the 2018 440i Cabrio with the MP1+MP2 in May. Waited till Sept and had a stop order due to the seat belt issue. The dealership had a brand new 2018 M4 Cabrio with the competition package, premium package, and some other stuff; in Black Sapphire. As I live in a new development, unfortunately, I already have 3 small stone chip on my front bumper! |

Beautiful car! Do a full hood / full fender. On my last car, I got a massive rock chip right above the film with half hood. It looked awful. Just spend the extra couple hundred and do the full hood.

Congrats man. Looks beautiful, I just love that colour and you did it right with the moonroof, full leather, and competition package.
I know you and I have waited a long time for our cars. Glad to see you finally got yours. Enjoy. |

I will definitely look into it - but also have to bring that money train into the station at some point, can't have it all!

Thanks Parabolica - I followed your ED thread as well and am quite envious of your experiences there - the tanzanite blue is a real winner! Look forward to some more pics and recap of the trip. Now the 2nd wait begins!

What can I say, this is a very special car as no doubt you are all aware! I had a great drive home from the dealer in Newmarket - all they way down yonge street to south of the 401 because I'm avoiding the highway until I can get the PPF done.
This drive could have taken 3 hours in traffic on a Friday afternoon (actually it wasn't that bad) and I wouldn't care because it was just so AWESOME to be behind the wheel of the M3. First off, this is a comfortable car. I've read so many reviews about this - too loud, too firm, too creaky, blah blah blah - even my wife commented how much better the car fit her compared to our Audi S4 - what a bonus! The DCT - fantastic! Easy to use, paddles are great, for me, this was the best choice and I grew up on manual cars. And the sound from the MPE - sublime! Love the burbles coasting along the neighborhood - what's great is the ability to keep it reasonable in efficient mode and then just letting it wail when appropriate. Love the tech - spent the weekend going over the manual and the various systems on board - still have a ways to go with getting up to speed on everything. The LSB colour is fantastic - it is really difficult to capture on camera the subtle emerald/teal tones to the finish - so glad I went with this. Also for anybody wondering - go for 20% tint. It is not too dark and suits the car well. I had 35% on my S4 - it is too light, IMO - it may be functional (and legal), but it just doesn't give the car the look it deserves. The car barely made it into my single car garage - I have a steep incline off a laneway - so the front lip spoiler had maybe a 1/4" of clearance at the lowest point - first project then is to build up the bottom of the ramp area to lift the car a bit and provide a bit more clearance. More to come and proper pics after the PPF and ceramic coating - but so far life if pretty good right now! |

Congrats! Very nice color. How much for the partial PPF? How much for the ceramic coat? There are so many stones on Toronto highways, PPF on the front is a must.
