heads up-275-35-19 Pilot Sport CUp 2 Dont Use

Guys, I had an awful handling experience a couple months back running 255-35-19 and 275-35-19 PSC 2 tires on ZCP wheel.

No matter what I did, I could not get any rear grip or get heat into the tires on multiple weekends and multiple tracks. Only when it was really hot at the Roval did I get some heat in but they still were not at all providing grip.

I jst read an article about the AMG GT R which the tire was specifically designed for. Well now I know why there was not grip. First , the GT-r 275-35-19 tire uses only 1 compound through the whole tire which is unique to this car. The Motorsport endurance compound. Normal PSC2 uses 2 compounds .

More importantly, it was designed to fit an 11 inch wheel. The side-walls seemed incfredibly flimsy both on and off the wheel. Now I know why. It was made to stretch over an 11 inch tire and with 11 inches it surely is very tight. With a 10 inch wheel, being a 275-35 tire, it was not at all a firm sidewall. I had it off the car and it was flimsy as hell

Anyway, learn from my mistake and find another size!

I've always said PSC2s can be a really bad tire. Most people don't know they need to be warmed up before use.

I would recommend instead PS4S 265/35/19 and M0 295/35/19 which is designed for a E63 10" wheel.

The cup 2 and the 4s aren't even comparable.

I mean...I have the exact wheel and tire and size combo and they are so predictably grippy when warmed up. They are ineffective when cold and especially wet.
What suspension were you running on that day? Hopefully your tire PSI wasn't ballooning with the increased temps too.

When the tire is cold or worn down, they become fairly sketchy. The breakaway point becomes abrupt at that point as opposed to the super predictable Pilot SS or how I imagine the Pilot Sport 4S to be.

Have a link to the article?

Also, is this size noted as being GT R specific, sort of like how they have *, M0, N, etc?

I'm not saying you cannot run them but they certainly aren't ideal as they are very different than the regular cup 2s. By all means use them and if you have full suspension I'm sure you can work around the soft sidewalls.

Just thought I'd shasre
