If you had to do it all over again

So if you guys were shopping for your first M3 would you buy new or used based on your buying experience?

I bought mine brand new, and it was my first M3. My next car will be a 911, and I plan to buy new as well. There's just something about being the first owner and driving a brand new mint condition car off the lot - and then taking an instant 10% depreciation hit. Lol.

I probably would not change a thing, I ordered my car and did the European Delivery. Sure its a stupid financial decision but the European Delivery experience is truly amazing.

When I order my 991.2/992 I will do the Porsche European Delivery.

Lease and do European Delivery every time. It's the only way to pick up a car.

One of the best things about leasing is the wifey and I can do ED every three years

One does not need to lease to do ED every three years

True. BUT leasing is a lot easier and less of a hassle.

Why buy every 3 years and deal with all the extra bullshit of dumping that car????

Because it costs a fair bit less and I can do whatever I want to and with the car.

leasing can also be much more expensive, given the typical interest rate charged could be as high as 5.9% at the start of the Model Year. On a $100,000 car, say 55% residual for 36 months term, you are looking at nearly $15,000 in just finance cost alone.

I'm not going to go into a lease vs buy downward spiral. EVERYONE's situation is different. There are arguments for and against on both sides.

I got a great deal on my 2016 lease and when the lease term is complete I drive up to any dealer leave the keys (5 min) and walk away. You can not do that.

Seems like your trying to instigate something :

These cars are like a Hot Crazy as Fuck chick. Fun for few nights but wouldn't marry her. Well some would marry her but I sure as hell wouldn't

Would buy new. Nothing like shopping around for a new car, being the first owner. Next time, I would look into ED.

I guess it really comes down to the decision of whether the 'experience' of buying a new car outweights the siginficant hit on deprecitation. Buying used will always be the smarter decision.

I have to agree, there is something about owning a new car.

I was originally looking at the S4 and C63S, but have ruled out the Merc. Something about its overall image. I love the S4; however, I want a really fun car to drive and the M3 might just satisfy that craving more so than the S4.

Buy used. By far best bang for buck and it's a late model year car (IE, late 2015) you have full warranty until 2019. Drive for 4 years and sell for half what you paid for with amazing resale.

Well let's compare the resales for new Vs
used.

2018 new: you pay 85k and sell for 65-70k in two years. This is based on the current value for 2016s.

2015 used: you pay 60k and sell for 45k in two years. This is based on current 2013 values.

If my numbers are correct you lose 5k more on the new car if you wanted to keep the car two years. Not including the taxes. Keep in mind most 2015's are 2014 production so your warranty will expire in 2018.

Sorry, bud. Definitely not trying to get into a debate between leasing and buying. I fully agree, everyone's situation is different. I simply specified that one doesn't need to be leasing to change every three years. And then, I simply answered that it was cheaper and more practical for me nor to lease. I don't have a business nor profession for which I can deduct car expenses and I have a 2% personal open credit margin at my disposal, there are not many lease offerings that can beat this.

To each their own
