Suspension Mod Advice
Cliff notes- Daily driven M3, drive in canyons on weekends. Wants it to feel more "connected" without ruining ride quality and daily ability.
A little background.. I love my M3, especially how it is a perfectly comfortable daily driver, but completely rips the canyons on when the cops aren't looking. Up to now I've been content with it's ride/handling balance and with the overall "feel" of the car. It doesn't handle and steer like a cayman, but the power of the S65, comfort, practicality, and still significant handling chops make up for it. However, I recently drove a 997 GT3 and an extremely set up E36 M3, and now my car feels like a heavy soft SUV in comparison! The E36 had poly bushings, a reinforced subframe, diff bushings, ground control coilovers, camber plates, turner front sway bar, x brace,, akg motorsport engine mounts, uuc tranny mounts with enforcer cups, Rallyroad transmission brace, bimmer world solid shifter. The E36 is essentially a track car but I loved how light and connected it felt. Since I daily drive my E92 and don't plan on making it a serious track car, what mods can I do that can make it feel more connected without ruining the ride quality? I have a Non EDC car and am content with it for what I do. I also hate the wheelhop I get when launching the car. Please Advise |

Best suspension mods I did to my daily driven M3 were solid rear subframe bushings and Ohlins R/T kit. Greatly improves body control without sacrificing any NVH. In fact, car felt more comfortable after Ohlins. No more rolling barge feeling.

sounds like you're wanting solid sub/diff bushings, but you don't want to deal with the minor clunking and whine associated with it.
the above post is correct in the fact that a set of coilovers can improve handling while offering a better ride quality over oem. camber plates might help you out a bit.

You can try solid subframe bushing with stock diff bushing to remove wheel hop, and a set of front sway bars to reduce underwater.

I'm fine with a little more clunking and noise as long as this doesn't translate into way more impact harshness.
What Subframe and diff bushings do ya'll recommend? |

Solid subframe bushes. Zero additional NVH. I went with stock diff bushes as mine is daily driven and I didn't want to deal with diff whine.
As for camber plates, they will increase ride harshness. Unless you track a lot, they're not really necessary. |
