Interest now and in a few months will be pretty different. By then the 2015 leases will be for sale and bring down the prices... I think leases start to expire in July.

MSD amount ($6300) is given back at lease end from BMW.

Interesting why not just give 2700 down in beginning? So bmw gets to invest the 6300 from everyone with MSD and sales...lucky them!

Also for the lease transfer he will get it after the lease is done even though not under his name or is it given to new owner and must trust he give it to you when initial lease is over?

It's a security deposit which BMW refunds at the end of the lease. It can be used to reduce the money factor (and monthly payment) and is refunded at the end of the lease. The refund would go to the person on the lease which is why OP is asking for $6300 upon transfer.

The other $2700 was likely the first month's payment, destination charge, doc fees, etc. One of the benefits of taking over an existing lease is that you can avoid these upfront costs.

It's also worthwhile to mention that not all leasing companies offer MSDs. I know Toyota does. You'd be a fool not to take advantage of this! Not only does this lower the money factor, you get it all back at the end of the lease. Depending on current money factor, the 'money' BMW holds could net a higher return (based on decreased MF) than if standard short term investments.

I see a lot of lease cars here, and not many seem to take advantage of the MSDs.

IcIc my friend did it at Long Beach BMW but I never heard of it called MSD until this forum. He just told me he put 7k down for an X5 lease and he gets it back in the end. Those kind of MSD secrets are not told often especially the sales people! But good to know and the reason this forum was created, to connect people and interact with friends with the same hobby!!! So he gets it at the end of the cars lease then and not when he does a lease transfer....
