what's that on the wheel?

What's that metal patch on the wheel? I got these on all four wheels, never noticed that, can I remove them?

You are probably trolling, but in case you are not, those are your wheel weights. Do not remove them.

I just couldn't figure that out...and I saw ppl were using weight scales to measure the wheel weight, and I am still not sure why stick them on the outside of the wheels

Those metal pieces have very little to do with a wheels weight. A tire/wheel set up needs to be balanced after the tire is mounted onto the wheel. That's what those metal pieces are for, to balance the weight distribution of your tire/wheel combo. Perfectly normal, every car with alloys have them. On cars with steelies you'll see something like this (even though i'm sure no BMW has steel wheels)

I've seen them on stock wheels. It's not so much about the wheel themselves as it is the weight distribution after the tires mounted.

Are there any others on this wheel? How about on your other wheels? I'm seeing 30 grams on your pictures, which isn't too much, but if you have similar number of weights on all four wheels or even more, I'd be concerned you have crappy tires. Or, if it's just this one and the other three don't have any, this one tire may be suspect.

Ha! Most reputable aftermarket wheel shops do a better job hiding those... yours was just stuck way upfront. Lol

I have similar numbers of these things on all four wheels, other three wheels may have 5 g less then this front wheel...so it's the problem of tires (mps4s), or the wheels (vff 106, but bought from a member here), or the installer ( Costco)?

I just double checked...other wheels have significant more more balance blocks then this driver side front wheel. They add at least 30-60 g more to other wheels...

120g added weight is well worth being vibration free.

definitely a good one. Appreciate.. just had concerns about the tires and rims, as I spent a lot of money on them. Just checked my stock zcp wheels, they have even more weight adheres...I didn't notice that since wheels are in silver color, so those metal patchs were hard to see. Now the wheels are in dark color, so they are more noticeable. Sorry about this dumb question on this forum, and been foolish.

Find a place that does road force, it minimizes amount of weights needed on wheels.

Some people paint the weights if they have dark wheels.

I have black wheels on most of our cars. I buy these and take them to the tire shop when getting new tires.
