Sonoma Raceway Sound Limit
Guys - I'm registered for a speed ventures event at Sonoma Raceway. The sound limit is 103db. I'm curious if anyone has had any issues there. I'm running an Akrapovic GT4 system which is straight pipes to the muffler. I have no idea what my sound level is. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank You

I believe the Sonoma sound check is from 100 feet away, compared to Laguna where it is 50 feet away. That extra distance really helps.
I don't go to Sonoma that often, but I have never heard of anyone having a noise limit problem there. |

I sat in the grand stands watching a dual race of Spec E30 and Miatas. (They start the two groups on opposite sides of the track at the same time.) Those Miatas were the loudest damn fart cans. They howled as they went by the grand stands. I didn't hear of anyone having any noise problems. They test full-on crazy race cars at Sonoma pretty regularly. I've watched them go by. They ain't quiet at all. |

So Sound booth at Sonoma is at Turn 7 or 11 (can't recall) where you are downshifting, unlike MRLS where you are screaming uphill in 3rd gear.
I run a Bimmerworld race catback with a catless mid pipe and have not blown sound at Sonoma. You'll be fine. |
