Are Conti 5P's Quieter/Louder than Michelin MPSS's?

Just took delivery of a MY18 M4 and "lost" the tire lottery that many on here talk about. The car came with the Conti 5P's. The car is too new for me to really comment on the tires overall, but they do seem quieter than how I remember the car sounding on test drives with the MPSS's. On highways, you could clearly here a distinct noise from the MPSS's over the engine/exhaust noise, whereas on my car the engine/exhaust seem to be dominant.

But I did see a review that the Contis were in fact a bit louder. So just wondering what the general consensus of the board is if anyone has experienced both...

I had contis and now MP4S in much larger size.

Defn quieter than the contis and more comfortable even though I'm running 305/30/19 in the back.

Agreed. My car also came with the 5P's. I replaced them with the MPSS in 265/295 and it's a huge improvement in handling and noise.
Granted, my MPSS are wider than stock, but I think the MPSS are much better than the 5P's despite similar scores in reviews.

Well, here's the opposite opinion. I've been listening to my MPSS for two years and 18,000 miles. Just put on 5P's and they aren't just slightly quieter, they are MUCH quieter. Bear in mind too that it has been my experience over the years that tires seem to gain road noise generated when they are in the latter stages of their tread life.

My M4 was delivered with the Conti 5P's on and just changed them out for MPS4s's (265/285x35). The Michelins are much quieter, smoother riding and better performing IMHO.

Thanks for this comment. I know it's a tough question, but do you think the reduction in noise you are noticing now is only because the MPSS's were at the end of life? Or do you think the 5P's are quieter even than when the MPSS's were newer?

I wouldn't want to speculate on answering that question because they were new two years ago and the car was new to me at that time too. So the interior/road/tire noise level was just as new to me. Consider this too. My opinion is only comparing nearly worn out MPSS and nearly new Conti's. Both sets were OE sizes, so that was a constant in my comparison. The new MP4S could be even quieter than the 5P's, as has been indicated by several in this thread.

Although as stated before my experience is the opposite, when I replaced my 5P's with MPSS I only had around 2500 miles on the 5P's.
Tire noise level at end of life versus when relatively fresh may very well have an impact.

I had stock size 5Ps and switched to larger (265/295 MPSS) and the MPSS are most definitely louder. Of course they are wider as well so that may contribute to the noise. They are also harsher. Even my wife noticed which is very telling.

As most have stated.......I too had Conti 5P's. SUCH a BIG difference with the Michelin PSS. I got the same sizes as stock config. Smoother, more comfy, tracks better and less road noise. In Sport+ it's glaringly obvious. Less rattles and shakes.

Since you say you lost the tire lottery and got the Conti 5P's, I'm guessing you have the 437 M Wheels right? Because as far as I'm aware BMW only offers the MPSS tires with the 20inch wheels (666 Ms). Correct me if I'm wrong.

On a side note, I had the Conti 5Ps on my 2017 M4 and I thought they were just fine. Never tried the Michelin's myself but just saying
