Track days near Cincinnati

m located in Cincinnati and would like to take my car to a track day but I'm not really sure where to start. What is the most economical way to see if it is something I would enjoy? I think the closest tracks are putnam park and mid-Ohio. Cincy SCCA is hosting a PDX at mid-ohio on August 4th and I was going to sign up for that but found out I'll be out of town that weekend. The PDX is $230. Would I want to get track brake pads for my first track day? Is a PDX a good "test," it sounds like it could be a pretty slow paced learning environment and I want to make sure I'm able to wring my car out a little bit.

Is there a difference between HPDE and a PDX?

Northern Ohio BMW CCA is running a track weekend next weekend over Memorial Day at mid Ohio. I'll be there. They will be having a beginner run group you could try to get a feel. And they are even doing just a one day registration on Saturday. Go to motorsportreg.com and make an account. That's where you'll register. There is a good amount of classroom time for first time drivers that give you valuable lessons to learn on the track and you'll have your in car instructor. As far as track pads? Yes. You'll gain confidence through out the day/weekend and start to push the car. Proper braking set up will help build confidence rather than scare you if your pedal starts to go soft

July 21-23 Northern Ohio PCA is hosting an event at Pitt Race. Pitt Race, the full track, is a very nice place to be!

Lots of HPDE events at Putnam and Mid-Ohio. The other tracks close to you are NCM and Pitt. PCA doesn't require Porsche membership, look at those events as well as BMWCCA if you are starting out.
