Bought my M3 last month and was wondering

What is the best speed/rpm/gear w/ (DCT trans) from a cruising speed say 50-70mph for fastest acceleration? Where is the best peak performance ? My buddy has a 2013 Mustang GT w/ 6 speed and wants to compare cars.

Pull the downshift paddle while stomping the kickdown switch on the gas (all the way) and the car will figure it out for you. Try it and get addicted.

The car makes peak power just below redline, so in theory the lowest gear that can be engaged below redline will deliver the biggest initial acceleration. Of course, then you have to shift again..

In 6MT practice, I'd pick the gear that gives me something like 6000-6500 revs, which gives some 1800-2000 revs to go before the next shift.

Depending on how healthy his car is and if he has the performance pack or whatever rear gear, good luck. The only time I can keep with an s550 (which is about the same straight-line) is if we start about 50 and he has to shift into 3rd, then he'll walk my stock 6-speed m3 from there up.

The s197s have quite a bit of variance, I've seen a PP car get walked by a non-PP car, both all stock similar mileage 6-speeds. Some are just healthier than others, same with anything else.

Really? humm.. I had a 2012 GT w/ automatic and a tune and ran a 12.3 w/ stock tires. He told me he ran a 13.0 w/6 speed and tune.

I figure it will be close when starting at cruising speed from 50 and up

Dump it into 3rd and stomp on it. On the track, going around the Bus Stop corner at Buttonwillow, I'm going a min speed around 80mph. I am able to shift into 3rd and gas it, but I have to shift to 4th right away. So, anything from 50-70, 3rd will be fine.

If the RPMs are too high, the car will ignore the shift that is considers too aggressive. So, for example, if you're trying to dump into 2nd at 80mph, the computer will just ignore the request for 2nd and just stay in 3rd to protect itself.

This. I tend to not judge much of games played in Mexico, or these debates but the one thing I can say is that in a straight line, you'll have a problem.
