Rubbing with 295/30 on an F80

Is anyone else having this problem?

F80 on Swift Springs running 295/30/20 in the rear. Wheel offsets are +27. Not sure what to do, to eliminate the rubbing. Can't roll the fenders and don't want to roll them either. What would the consensus out there in bimmer world?

Thanks guys

Option 1: Dial in more negative camber until rubbing stops; or
Option 2: Run a narrower tire; or
Option 3: Run a higher offset rear wheel.

Option 1 is probably the cheapest and easiest if all you need is a more aggressive alignment (within reason... ie. you don't want -3.5* camber for the street).

Are you sure the rubbing is on the fender? My F82 has the Vorsteiner's and 305/30's and under pretty stiff compression they rub the inner plastic fender well but never the body fender.

What brand of tire do you have?

ET27 equates to a 13mm spacer. It might be pushing it with a 295, especially if it is one with a wide tread width.

I am running continental 5P. Def. rubbing on the body fender as you can peel some rubber from the tires off of it. I have been told don't mess with the camber. I just ordered 285s unfortunately. Really liked the width of the 295s. So now I have some brand new 295s if anyone wants them.

It's a 10.5 rear wheel.
that means ur +19mm more aggressive than OE offset. u have 2 choices:

1) if u want to run that size wheel and tire, u need to go back to stock suspension or get a less aggressive spring (i.e. Eibach, ACS)

2) go with smaller width tire, 285 may work. (I was +18mm more aggressive on mine and ran stock 275 and had no rubbing with little more room to spare)

hope this helps

It depends where on the tire the OP is rubbing. If he is rubbing on the sidewall bulge, the yes, the wider wheel has an impact. However, if he is rubbing on the tread, then the wheel width will likely not make a big difference.

I had 295/30/20 mpss and rubbed also on my vf103 on MS springs. The 285 will work but 295 looks so aggressive.

Pretty much what I would say too. Obviously with option 1 and 2 you'll need take into account the compromises from doing so. With option 3, sure it'll cost more money to order new rear wheels but it would be the best course of action to take without having to compromise alignment specs, tire size or having to modify the car to accept the wheel.
