Please help me again for wheel and tire choices
I am a newbie, and have been frustrate for a while about which aftermarket rim and tire I should go with for my 2016 M3 with ZCP. Not sure if any of you would like to light me up....after spending numerous time in research, I narrowed down to following options, but still cannot decide which one to go.
1) apex 18*9 et 31 /18*10 et 33 with 265/40/18 and 285/40/18. The only downside of this combo is the sidewall will be a little bit too tall. The other problem of this package is limited tire choice. Probably only two are available, Conti's EXTREMECONTACT DW, and EXTREMECONTACT SPORT. The first one is dirty cheap which is a good thing but has a lots of negative reviews about soft sidewalls, dry and treadwear Performances... The second one is just too new to judge.... 2) Advan GT, or TE37SL or ZE40, 18*9.5 et 22 / 18*11 et 34 or 35 with 275/35/18 and 295/35/18. To me, the small pitfall of this combo is the overall diameter will be smaller than the original set up and that will cause wider fender gap, if I don't want to lower my car. 3) the last option is go to 19" wheels like VFF 103 or 106, 19*9.5 et 22 / 19* 10.5 et 34 with 275/35/19 and 295/35/19. Two concerns about this pack are not sure with the same sidewall (275,295/35), will there be any ride quality difference between 18" and 19" wheels? If not, I think this will be the prefect choice. But someone said 295/35/19 might not be the right size for those wheels, I don't know....so the other tire size suggested on the forum is 265/35/19 and 305/30/19. But I don't this square set up will cause any EDC problem.... Maybe I am too picky, but just want to find a prefect combo for performance, ride comfort, and aggressive appearance ect...I really love my car, and want to make everything prefect for her....so please help, present any of your thoughts and suggestions here....Thanks |

There's a significant difference in wheel quality between #2 & #1, #3.
If you go with #2, 275/35 then mind as well get 19s, if price is not a concern. There's a lot of guys running 265/305 with no concern about DSC/MDM intervention which is what I think you were referring to by saying EDC. |

Thanks for replying guys....I think I will go with option 3....If DSC will not be an issue, I would like to put on 265/35/19 and 305/30/19...but looks like ride quality will be slightly better in 295/35/19....

295/35R will fill the rear wheel gap a bit better as well. There are also several manufacturers that have a 305/35R

The tread size is the same as the equivalent 305/30/20 tires which means it is the same from a performance point of view. Ride quality sucks on the ZCP but who cares u already got it.. make the best of it.

I have a non ZCP car that came with the 19" 437M wheel 255/275 19 Star rated tires. I really wanted 20" wheels, but I didn't want to feel like I was riding in a wagon on a dirt road. I now have 265/295/30/20 I went from the MPSS star rated tire to the new MP4S non star rated. It rides better than my 19's! I used to hit the reflectors in the road on the 19 star rated and it felt like I hit a brick in the road. With the 20" non star rated you barely feel the reflectors. One thing about the star rated tires is they have a stiffer sidewall. So if ride harshness is a concern, whatever wheel option you choose, don't get the star rated. That's why I opted for the non star rated 4S's. Better ride, better traction. I don't track this car so I doubt I'll ever miss that stiffer sidewall. However, on my daily commute, I'll enjoy my 20's daily. I know how the roads are in Memphis, I used to live there. Too bad all the roads aren't as nice as Germantown PKWY.
Also, if you go the aftermarket route, get ET 20 up front and ET40 in the rear. That'll bring your wheels almost flush with the fenders. No rubbing issues, DTC issues or suspension issues. Quote:

There are some...but I didn't know 305/35/19 will fit...I searched, and barely no one put them on their f80/82s, so probably their too tall and will rub the fender with et 35?

I'd go with option 3. Nice setup to run PSS in 265/35R19(N0) or (TPC) spec (both designed as front tires for a 9.5" wide wheel) for the front and 295/35R19 for the rear.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am now thinking about lowering the car and getting 18"s.. looks like some of the aftermarket springs, like Eibach Pro-Kit, have even softer spring rate than the ZCP's. Plus it will cover the wheel gap a little bit nicer. What do you guys think?
