Question 285 on a 10.0'' wheel?

I have a square set of apex arc 8 18x10, I plan on ordering 275/35/18 square tire set up, however I hear the tires im ordering run wider; so a 275 if more like a 285. Has anyone ran a 285 in the front before, and is this too wide for a 10'' wheel?

The difference is about .4" between a 275 and 285. Even if your 275's that you are getting run a little wide, they should still be fine. It will also depending on the offset of the wheels that you have.

offset is 18x10 et25, I feel like a half inch is quite a big difference if the 275 is pushing it up front. I am just hoping someone will chime in and say they have ran 285 in the front with no rubbing issues, I guess I should also mention im lowered on ohlins road and track coils and vorshlag camber plates, I suppose I could always just add some more camber if I'm rubbing.

The 285/35-18 RS3 on an 18x10 ET25 rubbed the rear fender liners up front on my car, you'll have to compare specs on that but IIRC it ran pretty close to a normal 285. It fit fine and didn't hit anything hard, but rubbed small holes where the body seam the tire can sandwich the liner. More camber won't help that situation obviously. There's plenty of clearance everywhere else assuming stock suspension, and IIRC R&T doesn't take away inner clearance if anything it should be better with a steel damper body instead of the bulbous aluminum sachs stock stuff

The key dimension up front is diameter tohugh, not width, until you get really crazy. So long as the tire is around the "standard" 275/35-18 diameter, it should be fine whether it runs wide or not. The reason the 285/35-18 RS3 rubbed was because it's 26" tall instead of 25.6" like a normal 275/3518, I've personally and others have run a 295/30-18 up front but again, that's an even shorter diameter tire

Richbot is correct, any 275/35-18 will work, regardless if it is a Hoosier R7 or Michelin PSS. When you jump to a taller tire like Rich mentioned, that is when you start running into some issues that spacers nor camber can remedy.

To get the full picture, what compound are you referring to and what suspension are you running?

I'm looking at the federal 595 rs-rr, in 275/35/18 on ohlins road and track. I've heard these tires run closer to a 285-295 width.

Not a huge fan of the tire to be honest, but that is neither here nor there. The only thing you will need to pay attention to is inner strut clearance to the Ohlins. Be mindful of your spring perch location, and if they are sitting too low next to the tire and cause contact, install 5mm spacers with the appropriate extended hardware. Last, negative camber settings will nee to be dialed in accordingly.

Is it just the road noise or is it the performance of the tire, it primarily being a track tire I am okay with the noise.
