stoptech st-40 pads and centric info

questions and thoughts..

question - what pads do you use? rs-19, sr34, and pfc-01 seem to be the prime contenders. anyone do a compare?

on my st40 kit I have used pagid rs-19 and stoptech sr-34. pagid seems to have a touch better wear, but not worth it at the cost increase they come with. feel is pretty equal. pagid seems to respond to heat better and take longer to fade, but i need to experiment with different braking to see how i can get the sr34 pads to respond differently. (less pure threshold braking, and coming off sooner). keep in mind im going off last season. damn you winter.

next, for those who dont know, for the st40 kit, search for centric 334.0609.17.0 pads. they are the same as the stoptech, but yield better prices. right now i am seeing as low as $200/set.

I'm currently using Pagid RS-14 Blacks and definitely concur about Pagid's responding well to heat. I think the fade you mention is actually fluid fade though, IMO Pagid's keep the heat out of the fluid better than some other pads I've tried. For example, I was using PFC-08's prior to this and definitely boiled my fluid (Motul 600 or 660) with those pads and this heavy car. With Pagid RS-14 fronts (Stoptech ST-40 front BBK), PFC-08 OEM size rears, and Castrol SRF, my brakes have help up extremely well. Perhaps slight fluid fade at COTA towards the end of a session, but the long sections between braking zones give plenty of recovery time.

I am still deciding between RS-29's and RS-14's for next time, we'll see. I have used RS-29's before on another car and they were excellent. Enjoying the RS-14's also.

I've used the SR34s with the ST60 caliper on my E90 and with an ST40 on my E46. I can't remember brake fade with those setups.

I think you're going to like what you grew up on. If you like a more progressive endurance pad, you'll like the pagid yellows or PF08.

If you like a higher bite pad then a PF01 or SR34.

I tried the SR33 and it was like a pagid yellow with 1/2 the life. No point in getting that IMO.
