Trim Upper Strut Mount Guides?

Reading the thread below I noticed the upper strut mount guides were trimmed 8.5mm and bump stops from a 96 M3 were installed to gain over half and inch more suspension travel. Malek@MRF was installing springs on a Competition Package car, but would this also be wise for anyone installing lowering springs?

I currently have Swift Spec R springs and recently purchased Bilstein DampTronics with new upper strut mounts. Planning to install the new dampers and upper strut mounts in the next week or so and want to know if this is worth while. If so, I'll need to order those bump stops!

If you bought performance aftermarket shocks like Bilstein B8, they have shorter internals than stock and are fine for mild springs -- they won't lose most of their travel like stock when lowered.

I've read that some Bilstein shocks have internal bump stops and that external are not needed, you may want to check into that for your setup.

The DampTronic's are B6 only, so standard length body iirc. B8's are shorter.

If B6, you probably want to trim the guide tubes. If no internal bump stops use the E36M3 ones. I think they get trimmed. You can find the details with some searching.
