Hankook RS4's listed on TireRack (avail 3/17/17)

RS3 version 2 replacements are up on tire rack and as of today available 3/17/17. Really looking forward to trying these out on the track as the RS3's have been perfect for DD and track duty.

Maybe these will be serious competition for the RE71!

yea that's what I'm thinking. Even though the run like the older version I'm okay with that too. The ability to drive on the street and track with them is what is key. Sticky like a RE71 with the price of a RS3 and life of a RS3. That would be a fantastic tire.

They look priced on par with the stones. That suggests to me they think they're on a par in other ways. Rs3 was the hottest tire available not that long ago but time had marched on so I'm curious what bogey they are trying to hit.

They run wider than rs3 too

RS3 has some soft sidewalls and the tires make a ton of road noise. I switched to the AD08R which are much better. Hopefully RS4 addresses some of these issues.

RE71R is more like an autocross tire - they get greasy after a few laps on track. They're great for those first few laps though.

Agree 100%. RS3s are noisy as fuck on the road -- it sounds like you are driving on flat tires. My AD08R is definitely quieter but the rock-hard sidewalls make the ride quality much worse.

Yeah, the AD08R works for me because the stiff sidewalls = more responsive and more feedback on track and the quieter ride is good for highway driving. But yes, the stiff ride is not so great on the street.

Good points. I like the price of the RS3's agree they sound like a flat tire while driving on them. Only time will tell.

I didn't have complaints about RS3 on the street... I did not know what tire induced road noise was until I used the NT01. Wow!

On the track, the RS3 lasted forever but its grip couldn't hold a handle to the RE71. That's my impression anyway

The RS3s came out in 2009/2010. Just a thought...

Although I wonder what tire Hankook copied? They are a Korean manufacturer. My theory on the RS3s was they were trying to copy the Dunlop star specs and accidentally improved dry grip.

That's the thing with the RE71R, some people rave about it but it is a compromised tire. It overheats easily and wears quickly. There's certain limits to what they can do with a street tire - they compromised certain things to improve others.

I'm waiting for a new better overall tire. Look forward to seeing what the new RS4 brings.

I dunno, I prefer RE-71R to NT01. However with the ability to acquire $800 NT01 the situation changes quite a bit.

It'll be interesting to see how the RS4's stackup to the RS3's. My impression of the RS3 is that they offer a moderate grip increase over the PS3, certainly slower than NT-01's but can handle track abuse much better. They wear like iron and heat cycle out before wearing out (and thats with having TR shave the tires). Also, because of the lower grip, I don't have to run high track camber settings (2.5*F, 1.8*R) and yet still have very even wear. I like that the RS4's are available in my preferred stagger of 265/285.

I'm waiting for Tire Rack to get the Dunlop ZIII which was just announced in Japan. If ti's as durable as the ZII with RE71R performance, it's going to be an amazing tire
