I've run them before (on another car). They're fantastic but expensive. I'm happy running RE-71R's now and believe they offer similar levels of performance. Not sure how they compare on longevity *yet*.

Aren't the Cup2's about 2x the cost of NT-01's or RE71's?

265/35R18's are $340/tire right now (and these tires run wide), so about 1.3-1.6x the cost depending on what deals you are getting. Great tire and I'm curious to run them again but not sure it's worth the extra expense. I also believe you can get 8 track days out of them with proper rotations and they are assymetric so no additional expense for off-rim rotations like I am planning with the RE-71R's. Anyway, might be a better deal than they seem. In a late braking situation they once pulled 1.4G's for me w/o locking up, pretty amazing.

I think unless you have fine tuned the most of your driving technique, spending extra money on tires to get a few extra 10th of speed is not worth it. There is always time in technique and that is free!

Unfortunate. Cups are very nice tires. I cannot even imagine how expensive they are in Denmark!

I used older Pilot sport cups 2 years ago and was not impressed by their performance. At a very fast WGI was about 3 seconds slower vs BFG R1 tires that I used last year.
Is there any difference between cup and cup 2?

The Cup and Cup 2 are actually quite different tires. For example, the Cup was known as being incredibly sensitive to pressure, heat, etc. The Cup 2 is much more robust and will perform over a higher range of conditions. The Cup 2 is also a multi-compound tire, part of the tread is essentially R-comp, part is street compound w/ silica for wet grip. The BFG R1 or R1S may still be a faster in the dry but I wouldn't disregard these based on your experience with the original Cup tires, very different design.

I would expect the R1 to be way faster than the PSC2!
OP, a friend of mine runs a supercharged Z4MC at the track in Spain and uses PSC2 as well. None of these nice american tires are available. It seems like the only step over a PSC2 is to go to a full Michelin slick It's a shame you can't get most of the good track tires in Europe. Too many regulations... |

RE71R's are an equally as fast (or faster) and more durable tire than the PS Cup 2's. If you can run RE71R's you'd be wasting money on Cup 2's.
