FS: Pair of BMW Performance seats (350 miles of usage since new) WILL NOT SHIP

Up for sale are my driver and passenger pair of original unaltered BMW Performance seats. These are the alcantara and novillo leather trimmed seats you've seen. They have heat, wiring harness, airbags and are in full working order.

I imported these new in early August of this year and installed them two weeks later. I've driven roughly 350 miles on them so they have virtually no wear.

Why are you selling them Edward?

I am selling these seats because I just miss the all leather interior of my old seats. They are probably too sporty for how I use my car. I have a very short commute but I am often in a suit and it's just more bolstered than I personally prefer. I mostly will miss seeing how awesome they look installed in the car. Truly one of the best looking seats.

Are they comfortable?

I don't find them more comfortable than oem seats in the traditional sense of that word, but some will lie and say that a more rigid, less soft sport seat is more comfortable. I think it's personal preference, but they are certainly not unforgiving like fixed sport bucket shells.

These are being taken out very soon and will be held somewhere between orange county and Los Angeles and you're more than welcome to inspect them before purchase.

I do not mean to be a brat but I repeat that I will not ship them unless you can literally have someone package them for me. I do not have time to hunt for pallets or shipping options nor do I have a car big enough to even move these things packaged or unpackaged so please do not ask if I will ship. I also won't take them to load onto a Greyhound bus.

Below are pics of the actual seats in my E92.

Nice looking seats!

1. Do you know how much eat seat weighs?

2. Are these power seats or manual adjusting?

3. Do these seats simply bolt into the car meaning are all sliders and mounts included in the sale?

Thanks,

Kurt

The seats are not that light. I recall that they are under 5 lbs lighter per seat than the stock ones. Pretty poor weight savings for manual adjusting seats.

As referenced above, the seats are all manual. Height adjustment can only be done with the seat out of the car. Two settings, low and high. Low sits a tad bit lower than the lowest setting that the stock powered seats will go.
They adjust on sliders front to back and there's a soft triangular side knob that adjusts back rest pitch.

They bolt into the car without the need for any universal sliders. That's the big difference between the BMW Performance seats and the Recaro sportster seats. It's four bolts on the integrated slider.

Bump for some nice, quality seats!
Seems like an honest seller and not over-hyping the seats like some do lol

Edward,

Thanks for the honest review. A mere 5 lb weight reduction does seem kind of ridiculous to me. While the seats do look very nice I would like to shed a little weight if I were to shell out $5K plus.

The honesty and additional information are greatly appreciated. I wonder how the Recaro Sportster CS gets down to their claimed weight of 33 lbs?. I imagine that figure does not include sliders and mounting brackets.

While I would like to retain the airbag for safety reasons I can do without the seat heaters in FL.

The the integrated sliders and 4 bolt mounting setup sounds convenient.

Thanks again,

Kurt

Yea seat heat element is negligible I think. I saw a guy post a photo of it when he took apart his thigh bolster slider and it looked to be a paper thin series of thin metal strips that are stuck to the foam cushion under the leather.

If side airbags weigh as much as steering wheel ones do, I think there's probably 8 lbs at least per side and the Recaro CS likely do not include mounts in their weight claim as you say. Mounts are a serious safety part (imagine a seat coming out of place in any serious impact while you're belted in) and thus I believe they are usually made of steel which is heavy!

Sportster CS in leather in my 335i for comparison. I agree that the alcantara would be a pain with my work week attire.
