Aerodynamics of stock exhaust
I was watching a review on the E92 and he mentioned that the stock exhaust is purposely large and low hanging to prevent something referred to as parachuting ? Is this true with our current F82 stock exhaust ? This was interesting and just thought i would share. Discuss amongst yourselves

Oh no! The M-Performance exhaust is at risk of parachuting your car! Buyer beware. This Jeep Renegade should've kept it's stock exhaust. |

I'm fairly certain no one here has taken their car to a wind tunnel and done before and after testing so, pretty much every answer will be an opinion.
My opinion, using an exhaust with a can drastically different in shape than the OEM one might have a fairly significant impact on the air flow under the car. Is it going to be enough to actually feel? Depends on how fast you are going and how well you know your car. On the street probably not, if you are on track frequently enough to really know your car well you could probably feel a difference. I personally never understood why it seems like no aftermarket guys pan off the bottom of the muffler to mimic the OEM shape if they use a much smaller box. |
