Xpel for door cups?

Hi all,

I'm getting some Xpel film put on my incoming M4, and was wondering if the door cups come with protection from BMW, or do you need to put Clear film in?

Hope my question makes sense...

Thanks!

Door cup clearbra (film) is not standard. You'd need to have it done aftermarket.

if you own the car, i highly recommend clear bra'ing the entire front end, door cups, side view mirrors, and the b pillar. i have 20k miles now and it is basically brand new up front.

if i had to do it over again, i would massively increase the rear fender area behind the rear doors. the standard stickers it comes with sux, yellows over time and too small. i have a ton of rock chips there.

+1 in the rear fender, the front facing flare catches much more than the OEM strip covers

I've done door cups on other cars but skipped them with the M4. I don't think they are really necessary unless you wear lots of rings. I did, however, get a strip along the edge of the door to protect when opening in my garage.

I did one door cup on my passenger side. I figured I'm more than able to control how I open my door, but my passengers not so much. For $15 it was worth the security.

I also agree with doing the rear fender behind the passenger door. I did mine all the way up and was well worth it.

Thanks everyone. I'm doing first 3rd or so of the hood, nose, mirrors, door edges, door cups (now). I'll add the rear fenders.
On the fenders, would you just add some above the factory film, or remove the factory film and do the whole thing?

I think doing the whole thing in one piece might look better...

You'll want to remove it first.

Do the whole hood. That way no line (they should wrap all the edges). And stones do tend to kick up and bounce off the hood beyond where the partial protection goes. And for the rear, have them remove the piece that's there and put on a larger piece for more coverage. You may want to consider the rocker panels too.

I usually get the cups and door edges done but they look like crap on a white car after a while.

On my latest car, I left the cups and edges out. My installed did a great job on the full hood, full fenders so you can't even tell the car has clearbra on.
