MVP Track Day | Autobahn Country Club | 8/8/16

I rarely like to post my track runs, but after a great overall day with the help of the guys over at Evolve Automotive and Eric from E-Fab Motorsports (he took the whole weekend to get my car ready last minute) I was finally able to run times that I would run in past cars.

I know I turned in a bit too early and shallow, but I am working on it! Take a look. This run is a 3:11 (which is slow) I am working through my footage and will post some of my 3:07 runs (best I ever actually ever ran at Autobahn Country Club)

What a gorgeous track - everything is so green, haha. Used to nothing but brown lately here in California during the summer.

Which car did you get the 3:07 in?

Mark runs great events. I'd like to do some of his events besides COTA.

Nice run. You looked pretty smooth.

I've driven the course tons of times so here's some quick advice to squeeze even better times out:

Turn 2: this is one long turn, even for our cars. You shouldn't have to move the wheel at all once you hit turn-in, just use the throttle and brakes if you need to make small adjustments during the turn.

The Kink (6/7): use the full width of the track before and after the kink. I'm actually surprised they allowed you to pass during the kink instead of restricting it to before/after the kink.

Turn 14: don't track all the way out after exiting 14. You sort of want to drive in the middle of the section between 14 and 15. One of the track's instructors taught me this a few years ago.

Turn 16: probably the hardest corner to get right, but very satisfying once you get it. Your turn in was too early, try going for a very late apex so you can use all of the curbing on the way out.

Turn 18/19: use the full width of the track here. Like turn 2, it's really just one long turn. If you get it right, you can be on the power frighteningly early AND be set up to pass!

Also, as a general tip, try using more of the curbing. For many of the turns, you can drive onto it a bit. If you have DSC off, be careful as it can upset the car if you aren't smooth. I run in [Euro] MDM and use as much of the curbing as I can.
