Buttonwillow with NASA

So I got back from my weekend at Buttonwillow with NASA. I ran in HPDE2. I had heard some pretty bad things about NASA prior to going out so I was somewhat nervous about how it would go. I have to say that it was one of the better weekends I've had. I'd put it up there second to BMWCCA. Everyone was friendly and I was able to get an instructor to ride with me for a few sessions. They did a download meeting after every session and went over the "incidents" from the session as well as covered some basic driving skills. The only thing that struck me as odd is that they do not require point-by's even in HPDE1/2. On one hand that worked out since I didn't have to wait for a point by to pass anyone. On the other hand, I'm not sure how the newer drivers handled being passed (even though it was only on the straights).

Anyhow, I'd definitely run with them again. Here's a video of my fastest solo lap. Car is mostly stock (Apex 19" EC7's, Vorshlag Camber plates at -2.5 degrees, RE-11 tires and PFC08 pads are the only mods).

Garage List
Never run that config before, interesting - always done the CW13. Didn't look that crowded either - that was my one complaint about NASA at Sonoma.

That was Sunday (Father's day) so there were only 8 of us in the run group. There were 15 or so on Saturday. They mentioned that it was an unusually light crowd (probably because it was Father's day weekend). How crowded was Sonoma?

In looking at some of the other NASA events, it seems like they sometimes pair HPDE4 with TT and run HPDE3 by themselves. I guess it depends on how many time slots they have during the day.

Saturday I was approved to do time trials so it's all good now haha
For those that wanna go to nasa for laptime, forget it....you will get probably one clean lap or 2 the most.
Now should be rly fun to do laptime in tt.
One thing I liked about nasa is that I have learned some rly good tips from the download meetings.

If you run in TT, you can no longer get HPDE insurance though, right?

RLI Track Day offers coverage for TT.

As our prices stand today, an M3 valued at $36,000 ($34K base value, +$2K in mods) running a NASA event at Buttonwillow would be $227 per event.

Let me know if your values are any different and I'll get a new price for you!

That's awesome. I paid close to that for non-TT with Lockton for my last event and that was with BMWCCA discount. Do you guys offer any club discounts (BMWCCA, NASA, etc.)?

No club discounts. But as you said, compare our prices with guys that do offer 'discounts' and I think you'll find we still come out ahead.

Plus we don't tack on last-minute processing/document/billing/tax/convenience fees just before check out. The price we quote is the price you'll pay.
