Are Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar etc owners as passionate?

Most of us on this forum enjoy our m cars like they were family. I was curious if some of you know others who own other "fast sports" cars? Are they as passionate about their cars as bmw m owners?

I think the AMG and Audi forums are pretty popular as well. I honestly haven't browsed them as much as here.

I'd venture to say BMW has a very passionate following, but audi seems to be a close second with fan boys.

I went to the Audi forums once just to check it out. Honestly, they spend most of their time discussing how bad Bmw owners are. Interestingly, no hate on the actual cars though.

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...vs-RS5-faceoff

They literally link one of the threads from f80 post and call us fan boys.

BMW sells about 8 times more cars than Porsche. I would venture that a much larger percentage of Porsche owners are members of PCA than BMW owners are members of BMWCCA.

Porsche owners would easily get the award for most fanatical fanboys IMO.

I'd also argue that there's less turnover with Porsche. You probably have the most repeated customers. Just my opinion. Can anyone substantiate?

Actually, Porsche is way down the list. Behind BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Lexus. Porsche has alot to do with the 45 year old guy buying the car he wanted when he was 25. Then he finds out it's a sled, and goes back to Lexus.

Just read an article on it. BMW is at 32%. Lexus and MB at 34%. Jag is at 16% Porsche 23%. Number 1 in repeats? Ford, 67%

Majority of the ford percentage is from construction people buying pick ups.
The number you want to look at is the percentage of vehicle still in circulation. Porsche is wayyy up there at over 70%

Jeep is the only other brand that I have felt the owners share a strong bond and friendliness. I owned one many years ago and the sense of community, both online and on the road was impressive!

I think BMW owners are alot more mature than Audi. Audi are a bunch of kids. Are they really stereotyping us as drivers?!! LOL! They must have an inferiority complex and so they should

I was serious about buying a new AMG and spent a bunch of time on their forums to learn about the cars. There are people that are just as passionate just much much fewer of them. VW had a passionate following on vortex back in the day, not sure how it is now. The Porsche guys are true fanatics just a smaller and more elite crowd (for obvious reasons). Overall I think most OEMs have strong fans but none have quite as many as BMW... At least not online

My friends all drive Porsches. I must make amends.

As an active member of both Porsche and BMW clubs and clubs that are not brand specific my observation is that Porsche owners tend to be the most passionate. There is certainly a contingent of BMW enthusiasts but there are a lot of BMW owners who are merely interested in day to day transportation with more panache than a Camry or Accord.

Most of my friends that own Porsches own more than one car and in many cases they also own BMWs.

Precisely. ^ And ultimately, I think many BMW guys defect to Porsche or at least that seems like the natural progression.

I made that progression but my Porsche is a Cayenne S.
