Tire recommendations
My OEM Continental tires have belts that are separating and it's time for a new set of tires. I am kind of leaning toward Pirelli's but thought I'd ask the experts here for their recommendations.

I'm personally ok with the stock Pirelli P7 all season RFT tires. Nice to have that RFT capability for long trips in the middle of nowhere, and the tires seem to last a really long time

Also, my tire guy says he's been really impressed with federal for a cheaper alternative. I'm not sure which model but something to think about if you're on a budget, I might even try them out instead of spending 1600 on PSS

As it turns out, the 760s are the RE001 in the rest of the world. And they're currently up to the RE003. Well, they just started selling the RE003 here in the U.S., under the name Firestone FireHawk Indy 500. And they're DIRTY cheap. SO CHEAP. If you're buying the 760 now, you're getting ripped off, as the replacement for the replacement of the 760 is being sold here now... Sorta makes me pissed.

I am interested in trying a set of Cooper RS3-S. I put a set of the all season RS3-A on my Mazda 3 and they were great.
The S is the performance version. Took top honors in a few shootouts and is reasonably priced. The 255/40-18 that I am planning when I upgrade my wheels are about $160 at Discount. Wait for the buy 3 get one free eBay sale and you are golden. |
