M3 bog on cold start

Curious if anyone is experiencing a slight bog on cold start? So right after I hit the start button it starts up for a couple seconds, bog for I say 4-8 seconds then it's fine after that, 0 issues on warm start. I just talked to my buddy who is experiencing the exact same issue, fwiw he lives in Minnesota. I never really worried about it as I figured it was from the car just sitting for a couple days and the temps being so low here in CO.

Bog as in low rpms. Then it shoots back up to normal. I will try to get a clip as soon as I get home. I never start and drive away instantly always let it warm up for a few minutes.

hope this clip works and you can hear the rpms dropping and rising. I'm gonna get a clip inside as well.

if the above clip doesn't work, try this link to my photobucket folder, it should be the first one.

I believe some are having idle problems with burger intakes especially when its cold out but its only in the first minute or so then goes away. I think burger says it may be the maf not sitting properly.

ill take a look but if it was installed incorrectly or not "tight" wouldn't I have bogging all the time instead of just at cold start? it doesn't happen at all after the car warms up

Same issue with mine. Reseated the maf a few times. Same issues. Even had a master tech do it. Same issues.

Gave up and reinstalled the right side intake. Left the left side alone since that maf sensor is in the stock location. No problems since.

Mind you this only happens in really cold temps and only in cold start.

I'm going to reinstall in the spring. Still curious why burger moved that maf 10 inches from stock location when other intakes didn't touch the location

True.

I'm also curious why it's moved. I'm going to give them a ring in the am just to see what they have to say.

Let me know what they say.

Ando had emailed me and told me it's normal in cold weather, and that it doesn't harm the engine when it happens.

If the MAF wasn't properly seated during the initial install, the rubber seal can get pinched and/or rolled and damaged. Even if you re-install, it may never properly seal. The correct way to install the MAF sensors is to lightly lube the seals and make sure they're seated evenly before tightening the set screw.

I have the BMS intakes and I know from experience how tight the MAF sensors seat in the intakes and how easy it is to screw up the install. It is all about the lube.

Working with a few BMW technicians. Saying it could be a leaking injector now.
