100k+ E92M Purchase. Risky bet?
I'm looking at picking up a high mileage DCT (or 6MT) E92M as a dedicated track car and was curious what the community had to say about it. I figured it makes more sense to hoon an already thrashed car and deal with the risk of a higher mileage/cheaper car vs spending $60k for a 2013 LRP with 1,000 miles and then stuffing it on track.
I'm only looking at cars with a clean carfax, service history and after its had a PPI including compression and leakdown tests. Looks like used replacement motors are around $9k + shipping and DCTs are $2k, which isn't too insane. I've got tools and a lift in my garage so I can do most work on the car myself. If I have to swap a motor, I'll get what I need to do the job. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. Last edited by nholmes; 10-29-2015 at 05:47 PM.. |

That's sort of what I'm hoping for.
Any idea how bulletproof the platform is? Not to turn this into a newbie thread asking the same questions over and over, mostly wondering what's going to shit the bed first. Anyone know what this is: Last edited by nholmes; 10-29-2015 at 05:52 PM.. |

Not my platform anymore but talk with someone about front aero. Skip apr it's hastle and not enough downforce. Try orth281 he's went thru a few different ones.

I went with apr gt 250 rear in 61 as did he but my thinking now is I should have went 67 and just use less angle of attack for less drag but still have same downforce.

I wouldn't say that they are just rather flimsy so require decent amount of work to reinforce them. I'm running 4 rods on mine to stiffen it up some. Still flexes and then you don't know what angle your actually getting from it. Think e9x is easier to manage platform than e46 as far as that goes.
