Even OEM rear camber wear tire inside?

Hey guys,

notice a clear wear inside vs rest of the tire. Guess how it is suppose to be even on a original M3 camber setting to get handle in place, or should I go for an alignment? (24k miles, OEM 359/tire size, no spacers).

Flame suit on for possibly not cornering hard enought...

Cheers

Only street driving? Usually don't take advantage of even oem camber in that manner. Driving feel is better at expense of tire wear. Had to dial some out of rear on both my X5's so wouldn't ruin tires.

How uneven is it? If it seems excessive, it may be a toe issue which will wear out a portion of the tire prematurely vs. the rest of the tire depending on toe-in or toe-out. I think it's always good to get alignments as part of annual maintenance. When was your last alignment?

...or, just take turns harder!

Hi Cenix, don't think it ever had an alignment (bought it 12k miles). I'll have a chat with the dealer next time I pass them to see what they think, if anything...

Thx

You will most likely find the rear tyres are toeing out relative to spec.

Morning Peter, wasn't even aware of that rear toe could/should be adjusted on this car. Learn a little something everyday I guess...☺

Hey Nik...yeah its probably the most common cause of unusual tyre wear.
Normally a little negative camber causes the inside of the tread to wear more than the rest but the wear is evened out by a little toe-in which wears the outsides of the tyre.
Too much of both and you can eat through rear tyres in 2 or 3 thousand miles and yet can still have a normal looking wear pattern in some cases. You can actually feel excess toe by rubbing your hand across the tread - depending on which way the tyres are toeing, the tread edges feel sharp against your hand.

Interesting Peter, I'll definitely take a closer look at this - Thanks!

I have exactly the same thing on my rears with original toe/camber settings. I think the rear camber is around -1.5. Funny enough I have camber plates in the front at around -2.4 and I do not have any issue at the front. Go figure?!

This is on my street tires, so no tracking.
