Pictures of 220's w/ wider tires
I'm about to buy some new tires but like the looks of the stock 220's. I'm running 12 & 15mm spacers (of course I can take off if necessary). I'd like to see some pictures of the stock 220's with 255-275's or wider. The car is not lowered and I have no intention of doing so. Please post them up with any spacer's you're using so I can see fitment of different sizes. Thanks!

Stick with stock sized tires. The sidewall has to flex side to side properly and wider or stretched tires alter the proper flex.

275/35 on rear with 12.5mm spacer. Conti DW.
Running 255/35 up front with 15mm spacer. No rub. FYI - front wheels are turned slightly to the right.

Looks good. I'm going to stick with the PSS'. Any idea if they are wider in those sizes? I know some tires are wider then others in the same size...

Just because it looks better doesn't mean the car will perform the way it's been engineered. Slicer, chime in.

I'm very happy with my 255/275 PSS (no spacers). Keep in mind that you're adding weight to gain grip.

Yep, it would be for cosmetics. I like the steam roller look! However, if it is going to cost me in performance, I'll stick with stock. That being said, I can't see how more contact surface could result in poorer performance...

If the tire is stretched or too big for the rim width, it will not move side to side as designed, negatively affecting the performance. Think of playground swing set. The ropes go straight up essentially. If you swing it side to side, it swings without much resistance. If you spread the top apart and swing it, the ease of the swing is interrupted by what becomes the "shorter side". Get it? Ideal width rims are noted for a reason when you buy tires. You can get wider rims but your question is about 220's. This pic is totally primitive but which sidewall do you think will act (swing) as designed? |

Not yet - all stock suspension. Minus spacers, which really isn't 'suspension' per say.

Would have gone PSS but the 275/35 shortage was (and still is) in effect. I will tell you, with the Conti's in 1st w/ Euro MDM activated there is A LOT less wheelspin than with my previous 275/35 PSS. Granted, they were at 4/32 (right) and 5/32 (left) when I swapped. I guess that makes this a moot point then, lol.
