New Member - 3rd M3 in the garage

I thought I would quickly introduce myself now that I've picked up my E90 M3 in addition to my '95 and '98 described below. Its a 2008 with 45k miles and completely stock aside from 35% tint. I plan to keep mostly stock with the exception of potentially an ACM or Eisenmann exhaust, and painted reflectors. I have no plans to chase HP with this car....just a fun daily driver.

I've owned M3s since buying my '95 in 2002. I still have it and its a complete garage queen with only 38k miles. Includes a built 3.2, 3.38 gears, SSK, Brembos, Fikse FM10s, Rogue DMS, Conforti Intake....just about everything short of forced induction.

I acquired my second M3 in 2013, buying a '98 M3 that already had a 2JZ swap for a fun daily driver. However, seeking a slightly more responsive turbo and a bit more power was a slippery slope akin to Everest and I began a ~5 month build including, ProEfi ECU, 10:1 Built Motor, Precision 6766, GSC S1s, etc. It now puts down 915whp/800wtq on E85 at 34psi. It too is something of a garage queen given its a bit impractical for daily use.

Looking forward to participating a bit more...

Jack

Welcome Jack,
You got a stable of beautiful cars there. Low mileage Garage Queens; beautiful to look at and even nicer to drive!
Congrats and enjoy the new one!

Love the Avus E36 and the 4 door is plain nuts.

E36 squared + E90 M3 is a great combo.

It could certainly be for sale, however, I'd want to recoup much of what I put into it (I have $50k+ in it)...

Awesome cars! I love Avus blue. That car, and your chosen mods, looks amazing.

It really is. However, what you don't see when shooting for these crazy power levels is how relatively "needy" the car is. I need to swap in a new set of plugs tomorrow as I am seeing a bit of spark blowout at higher boost. I guess its all part of the game with a motor running this much boost/power/flex fuel.

Jesus... and to think I skimped on a single when I used to own a Supra Turbo 6-spd, fantastic collection of cars and love the in depth builds!

I've not driven a TT Supra...but even a smaller single is a TON of fun. You did in fact miss out.

Thanks guys.

Definitely no dream garage...but its pretty well rounded. Each time I jump in the E90, I like it a bit more. The seat bolsters are just fantastic. Its so funny each time I let the RPMs climb, I am always expecting the inline-6 shriek I've grown accustomed to over the last 10+ years and instead I get this "weird" V8 noise.

Woah....it has been a long time and nice to see a familiar old name!

I saw your post and instantly pictured your E36. I see you are in SF now...last time we talked you were finishing law school (that had to have been 5+ years ago!). I would imagine you sold the E36 on long ago....the turbo torque is alluring, but the headaches can certainly be frustrating and I remember you having a few of those...

Just a guess but maybe you need a more powerful ignition if your plugs are being blown out. Not new plugs. Happened to me back in the 90's with a cogged Vortech on my Saleen.

A blower on your M3 on the other hand will need absolutely nothing. It's something that was meant to be

I recognize your name from 6speed. My previous DD was a modded 996TT and I spent quite a bit of time over there.

It ended up being boost-cut. On 93 the boost creep was a bit too much and the ProEfi was cutting timing/power to protect the motor. With a fresh tank of E85, the car pulls like an absolute freight train once again. Supra coils are pretty amazing....there are plenty of 2JZs running 1400+ whp with the factory Toyota coils...

I can't ever see adding an aftermarket S/C to a car...just not the same level of fun as adding a turbo. Our Ariel Atom has the EcoTec with Roots blower and its awesome....but I think the temptation for more boost is always so tempting......and with a Turbo, its only a knob/button away.
