2015 M3 Chassis Flex
I have 6K miles on my 2015 M3. Couple of days ago I noticed ripples on top of the right front fender where the fender curves to meet the windhield pillar. I took it to my PDR guy and he told me that due to the stiffness of this car and the chassis flex, it's causing the aluminum fender to crease in that specific area.
Has any one run into this issue? There is a slight ripple on the left fender but it's more noticable on the right. |

The explanation is ridiculous. The F80 is extremely rigid, more rigid than a Lexus LFA. It would not have anything to do with the fender wrinkle. If so, it'll be the first to hear of this for any car.
Any chicks sat on our car taking selfies?

So the chassis is so stiff that it doesn't bend but the aluminum fender, mounted to the unbending chassis, does bend....?
Somehow the aluminum, affixed to a structure that is receiving bending/twisting forces but is not bending/twisting, is transferring that load to the aluminum fender..... Think this through a little bit. And don't go back to that PDR guy. |
