GoPro External Mic Test

Quick video I threw together testing out my new GoPro external mic. Got tired of taking vids and getting sh*t sound from the GoPro. Went with an Edutige ETM-008 Uni-Directional Microphone and windscreen. Decided on the uni-directional mic opposed to an omni-directional because I didn't want a mic that was too sensitive and will pickup too much unwanted backround noise. Uni-directionals only pickup sound directly in front of the mic. The initial test vid was successful although I may need to play with positioning a little more.

Anyways enjoy the quick vid...please excuse the slight douchebaggy driving as I was trying to see how the mic would pickup the exhaust sounds at different levels. lol

Thanks dude! I got everything from Amazon Prime. It was like $50 at the time for the mic but I think it's in the $60s range now. You'll also need the 3.5mm adapter, longer 3.5mm cable and the fur windscreen for the mic.

But damn you have some cahones driving like that in a parking garage. I am so paranoid of cars not paying attention in areas like that, I drive like an apprehensive grandma.

Bimmerfest was ok. I still prefer the Rose Bowl location. Everyone seems so spread out at the speedway with the vendor section on one end and everyone parked on the other end but I guess they had to cater to the track guys.

Thanks man! ...the aluminum parts are made by a company called Smatree, highly recommend their stuff. Can all be purchased at Amazon.

Thanks dude! ...I changed them when I did the stud conversion, back to my OEM 219Ms. I go back and forth between those and my 19s all the time to change things up.

Sounds great man! I am going to be filing a desert drift promo clip out in the desert. Did Have you tried mounting the mic on the inside of the rear diffuser right above the exhaust?

Much better .. I may look into this as my GoPro has pretty crappy sound when mounted on the car as well.

No apology needed. I added music to make the video "watchable/not boring" like I do with every video I make. The test was to see if the mic can be heard loud and clear, no distortion even with music in the background. I would say it was successful...would you not agree? If not, you might want to get your ears checked or the speakers on your device upgraded. lol

...yeah, I know what you mean. But it was a calculated risk driving in those sections of the parking garage. It was only done on 2 uphill sections of the garage which I frequent all the time. The first section had no chance of cars backing out as there are no parking spaces there, the second section only had 5 cars parked and it's really easy to see if someone was inside the car or to see brake/reverse lights turn on in which I'll have enough time and space to evade.

Sounds great! Love the sound! You know how much I love your car, so when you are ready to sell, let me know!

Just curious as to why you chose to run the wire along the outside of the car? Could have put it through the window then through the back seat out the trunk. Just easier than taping it all up and running in the water drain of the trunk. Food for thought
