F82+downpipes=wow
Hi guys,
I just do install Zima downpipes after months of hesitation. Finally, I can say that I waited too long: this engine needs the downpipes. I did not spend dyno, but no need to feel the difference; it is very clear. The engine is much more responsive and the little turbo lag narrowed significantly. Torque rise is obvious and the engine revolution rises faster. Now the icing on the sundea: the sound. Valves disconnected (or even better with the Macht Schell EVM ), the sound of this engine is now really (yes really) perfect. 9 months ago, I wonder if I would one day love the sound of a car more than my S65 with a REMUS race or Eisenmann race exhaust. It's done. To be quite honest, it is perhaps not as lyrical, but seriously, the DP's with the S55 are a must for those who love the F80 / 82 chassis, but seeks a better sound. Thank you to TOM at EAS and Mark at VCM auto . I hope this review will help in a few. You will excuse my english, it's not my first language ... and by the way, my E92 M3 ESS VT-1 is now for sale.

Thanks for the review. I am in the shoes you were wearing months ago. My current reservations are:
-Leased Car -No one in Pittsburgh I would trust to install them. I would have to drive to TPG to get them installed and uninstalled. -Rotten Egg Smell Only way i'm really justifying it is "You gotta pay to play".

Nice Review... It does makes a lot of difference on Turbo cars. Turbo engine doesn't like to be restricted such as stock downpipe.
I just dyno'ed my N55 F15 X5 and the gain difference between stock and catless downpipe was amazing. It jumped +30whp and +30wtq.

This is always the obvious upgrade on any turbo car just like headers make the biggest difference on NA cars. It surprises to see some one shocked that they made power by going with higher flowing down pipes like its been the same thing for years.

Hi guy's
no tune at this time, i'm not sure it worthwhile with stock tires; traction is already precarious when accelerating from stop with DSC off. For the DP's installation, no cutting, just bolting; very simple for an experienced mechanic, approx 1:15hrs to install. No smell of rotten eggs ... and I have a sensible nose The Macht Schnell EVM, manages the CEL and is completely invisible; This little device is really well designed.

MUCH more loud; the EVM help a lot when you close valves, but still louder at cold start.

At this time, I'm very happy with stock exhaust +Dp's. And yes, i have a very very good service from Mark at VCM and Tom at EAS.

To confirm, the cold start with the valves fully closed (using your Macht Schnell module) is about the same or much louder than a stock cold start (without the Macht Schnell module; so stock control, valves open )?

If someone can elaborate on this topic.
So the Macht Schnell EVM manages the CEL. So what if you really do get a legitimate CEL say from evap, MAF, turbo codes, etc, etc. How do you know if you have a legitimate CEL if the CEL is always on???

I may be wrong but from what I understand it only looks for the cat inefficiency codes and erases them. Anyone else chime in?

As long as you keep the stock exhaust after the down pipes you still have the "secondary cats" in place so you will not get the smell. The cats in the DP's are for start up emissions as they light off quickly being so close the turbos. Once the system is up to temp the secondaries work just as well.
