The amount of effort needed isn't worth it. Get a set of catless DPs and call it a day.

M3SSY why do that? Catless downpipe doesn't cost as much as OEM one. Also the hassle to knock those expensive material down the drain.
Trust me, I've done 1 back in the Honda day, I gotta pay more when I need to get the car smogged. I suggest you to jump on the ER catless downpipe sale that is going to end tomorrow.

I was just asking questions and pointing out that in places that do smog and do a visual this might be a good option to couple with a JB4, you will still pass smog and visual but you wil have "catless" downpipes..
will it make power? idk... will it sound like crap? idk.. was just asking questions and isn't it funny how all the vendors are saying no get DP's anywho... |

I thought I heard of someone doing it on the n54... I say do it.
But make sure you can pick up a set of used stockers for a good price in case you need them. |

We all answering your question and give you a suggestion as an expert, since many of us are been in this scene for a while. I guess either you can PM the Admin to ban us the vendors not to post in the public thread or put it in the title that you don't want an expert or vendor to answer your question.

I asked a question out of curiosity, I know it made power in my old s4, was just curious if anyone had done it, because my search came up blank... |

Actually they will sound the same as a DP as well. You can buy them used for 500 bucks. In a few years you can go to most shops and pick them up for a six pack of beer because they will have a stack left over from installs. Its the same cycle for every car. Same for my N54 motor and for my GTR. But they dont make anyone money and are not as sexy so you won't hear about it. No magic in a 3in pipe thats less then two feet long. No exhaust scavaging effect post turbo etc... If you have E85 around you its not even worth it until you upgrade the turbos. It's the tiny turbines that limit power. Ask Vagas Turbos... the stock downpipes aren't very restricted, it wouldn't be worth it with the design of the stock downpipes, definitely better off getting an actual set
