Some upcoming JB4 features!!

Saw these mentioned and wanted to make sure all the JB4 users here were able to stay up to speed. BMS is working on a new OBDII harness for the JB4 to eliminate the need to add the much maligned POSI-TAPs. This new double sided OBDII connector will be available for around $15 and and will connect to the JB4 harness making for a fully reversible setup with no tiny pin holes required in CANbus wires. Added bonus: the new OBDII connection point allows some new features. In dash gauges, on the fly map changes like the old E series JB4, on the fly boost by gear adjustment, MAX BRIGHT mode for LEDs, active sound mute, and that sort of stuff. It pokes from through a preexisting hole in the firewall for a nice and stealthy setup. BMS expects to have these ready in 2-3 months in high volume (its a custom mold, etc), and they can be retrofit to any JB4 kit. If you prefer the current tap location you keep it and if you want the new one and features then you add it.

Also in the works is a new fully billet weather proof enclosure so you no longer need to hide your JB4 under the plastic covers to keep it dry. Unless you want too. This is just the first prototype being tested now but final version will be anodized black.

Looks promising man. Case is a good idea for those who like to wash out the bay.

why doesnt he just put his efforts into an ecu flash, with all the stuff he can already do i can imagine his ecu flashes would be feature packed (e85 flex fuel integration)

These parts look really good. Mike if I install stage 1 I don't need to use the POSI-TAPS, correct? I would rather wait for this to then install the the stage 2. Is it possible?

Because people are a lot more likely to plug in some cables than remove their ecu and ship it off for a bench flash.

Right, just install the JB4 as Stage1 and then when the cable comes out you'll install that along with the updated firmware to enable the Stage2+.

They have some great N54 & N55 back end flash maps but until OBDII tools are available for the S55 they see flash tuning as a non-starter.

So will the billet case work for existing JB4 owners? Just received my JB4 today (THANKS MIKE) have it on stage 1. Just took it for a spin the gain is very impressive no traction until midway through 3rd now!

Not sure adding more power than this without limiting boost per gear will make the car any faster since the car is now traction challenged!

Theres pro and cons to both approaches. He can do a ton of things the flashes will never be able to do. On the fly map changes, in dash gauges(which is a big deal that us former N54 guys miss!) Meth intergration, boost by gear, multi fuel maps(e85 mixes, race fuel, and pump), OBD code reading and clearing, not to mention logging and a ton of other things a regular flash can never do, due to the limitations of the ECU.

A COBB can do a few of those things but not most and COBB has no plans to support this car anyway. Once you run into the limit of the JB4 (which 95% of users won't get close)for fuel and timing control you can do a simple backend flash and open even more doors.

The guys that sell flash will try to down play "piggy backs" which the lower end ones that others sell have the draw backs of a flash and a piggy back while JB4 is a whole different game.

If you just want to set it and forget it a flash might be the best fit but you lose a ton of flexablity.

How does this install? Literally plug into obd2 port? No wire splicing or tapping?

Finally, the 2 most cheap-ass features of the JB4 to be fixed. About damn time.

Yes it's a full obd own style plug. No splicing or tapping. You just link the existing can wires coming off the jb into this obd adapter.

There is no putting a hole in the firewall as there is one there already. The wires are routed through that existing hole.

No and none should be expected. The p3 cars gauge plugs into the obd port as well to access can data and there is no rogue power draw.

Yes the new case is compatible with all existing JB4 and Stage1 systems.
