Tracking with tune

Good idea to go run a bunch of sessions a day with one of the higher output JB4 maps, or should I stay with the stock map when tracking?

I'm assuming its okay but want to hear your opinions.

Thanks

I wouldn't run Map 7 if that's what you're planning. If you're going to run Map 1 or 2 it should be fine, but make sure you have some 100 in there.

Please update after you track. I'm interested to hear how it goes on track with JB4

When I tracked my E92 I would put the JB4 on map1, which is what I plan on doing for the M3.

why would you put something on your car and have it be more aggressive on the street and not trust that same tune on the track?

For the N54 it was heat, and for the track you don't need raw power. There is much more to tracking the car then absolute HP. This has nothing to do with trusting it on the street versus trusting it on the track.

I am going to start the M with map1 and see how it goes and then probably map up to map2 and see how that goes in terms of how the car feels and how controllable all the power is on the track with street tires.

Because you can tune a car for a 15 second WOT application, that isn't suitable for a full bore 15 minute full court press track session.

horses for courses. there isn't a one size fits all when it comes to engine tuning.

What tire size/compound are you running? Are you a novice or expert on the track?

I honestly don't think you'll need more power on the track unless you're a pro and running wide slicks in the rear. The F8x has enough torque to keep you busy fighting it through acceleration and turns. More power would just add more problem.

I ran Map 5 on 93 Octane at the track with absolutely no issues. Power delivery was nice and linear and I pulled on a 991 GT3. No complaints. Drag strip I run Map 8 w/ 100 Octane and Meth. Change to suit the situation.
