Best Exhaust System for F8X?

Has anyone been able to massively improve the sound of your F8X? Downpipes, mid-pipes? I am also very annoyed with the whole exhaust flap crap. With the F10 M5 and some of the aftermarket exhausts you can hear turbo whine at idle. Can this be done on the F8x? Any solutions or suggestions?

First things first unplug the electric actuators in order to leave the exhaust flaps open if you have not already done so

AWE's switchpath exhaust does a fine job of taking the nasty rasp away.

Going full catless will introduce a slight bit of turbo whine. Akrapovic Evolution and M Performance systems are the benchmark exhaust systems for F8X. There's also Eisenmann and Remus. Catless downpipes are worth about ~10-12whp, catback systems won't provide much more in gains. We were only able to see +7whp on the dyno with the Akrapovic Evolution system.

Most will choose an exhaust based on the following:

- Sound
- Tip Style
- Craftsmanship
- Material/Weight

Watch some videos, attend some meets to hear various systems in person and see what sounds best to you. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions on the any of the systems and I'll be happy to assist.

Great points. Another option is a muffler delete. It's a bit more raw than the other options, but like anything else with these cars, it's very personal. What looks or sounds "best" to one person may be different than the next guy.

I went with the Turner Motorsport axle back exhaust and IMO, it sounds better than anything else out there.

Like Tom said...attend some meets and see for yourself.

I found this on YouTube which claims to be IPEs full exhaust system, definitely a different sound. Not sure if I like it though. After 1:00 some of the sounds it's making are a bit odd imo.

I would love to see the first person here who has spent a ton of money on a system to say it's a bad one.

I have use, my friend has akra, his sound more adult slightly, I love them all, I would even go so far as to say there isn't a bad system out there yet, even the stock is great.

Will EAS sell the AWE exhaust in the near future?

We don't carry AWE, but have no problem installing if you were to bring in your own system.

Typically, it's usually how these threads turn out. Good to have choices.

Look on the classifieds. People change for many reasons, maybe not because it's a bad decision, but a couple of which may be they just tired of the sound or that it wasn't what they expected.

But what we REALLY need is more threads asking which exhaust is the best. There just aren't enough of those around here. We need a place where everyone can go to justify the $5000 they spent on their systems and tell the OPs that theirs is the best. Wonder why there aren't threads like that? Oh wait..............

Nah, usually its more them doing the women shopping for shoes routine. I've spent countless hours listening to endless stories about how some leather is nor right for this and that and how the heel is not quite right. 30minutes later they have forgotten they hated the pair and buy them. This is merely the man version of the same thing and because the stock is very good it is hard to justify the money spent.

I also assume some members have had the same setbacks as I have had and the spouse has gotten the invoice in their hands. That gets ugly pretty fast and returning/ selling the item comes to mind easily.

They don't have as many "design flaws" as we have to deal with.
