Jb4 E85 Problems!
Hey guys, I'm having issues with my jb4, maybe someone can chime in if they experienced this before.
My car runs like crap with E85 in it, it feels much stronger on pump. I have DP, and fully catless, I break up in 4th gear gear WOT and would sometimes throw a drivetrain malfunction. The car feels stronger on 93 but as of lately I would also break-up when just having pump in the car! Maybe it's an inssue with the jb4? BTW I am running map 2 and I don't put more than 2 gallons of e85 with a full tank of 93. |

Probably because of the e85 blend you're running.

do you have the fuel mass sensors connected? have you checked on n54tech?
Sputtering in high gear means fuel trims are maxing out. you need to connect the Fuel mass connector and if its already installed then raise the open loop setting in the JB4 interface. |

My car runs fine with e85 in it and I have no fuel sensors in, I actually don't know what they are. Can someone chime in??
I usually put 3 gallons of e85 mixed with 93 octane, my car pulls like an animal with that mix. |

What does this fuel map sensor do? Why don't ess require it for their high power torque tune which puts out similar numbers? Isn't having adequate octane the most key factor?

You should post this stuff at N54 tech, where the inventor/owner of the JB4 and his staff check all day everyday to answer support questions. Their support is really good and it wont be a bunch of us just guessing at your problem. Just trying to help you out. Good luck Last edited by Myaddiction; 04-05-2015 at 04:29 AM.. |

Oh I see, where are these sensors plugged in? What benefits would I see if I opted to get these and go stage 3? |

Why would it be required for race gas given its stoich is obviously the same as regular fuel? I could see for e85 where you need significant higher levels of fuel to keep up.
Can someone explain what this controller is doing? |

What is funny is that each car is a little different. Some can get this to even happen on pure pump gas in colder weather. Others can get away with a little E85 mixed in, but typically these owners don't push the cars as hard or are in conditions/weather that doesn't allow maximum power production. Anyway, the point of all of this is that if you DO NOT have the fueling connected, don't expect the car to run well at full throttle and higher gears on E85 mix. Stick to pump gas.
