Arrow Turner Motorsports Field Trip = Tune Purchase!

Living in Massachusetts and having the day off, I figured I'd take trip up to Turner Motorsports to check out there operation. After a quick trip in their project car, I am now having the Turner Tuning Box installed. Seemed to generate a noticable boost in mid-range power.

Sort of an impulse buy, but since I'm here, I figured what the hell. MPE should be installed on either Friday/Saturday. Problem is the CF tail pipes are back ordered for several weeks but will go bare for a few weeks I guess.

For what it's worth, the Turner guys seems pretty easy to deal with.

Definitely goods guys.

I have to say, the tune is much stronger than I thought it would be, and even got third party confirmation from a friend with an F80 who drove it after the tune. We did an A-B test drive with mine then his.

The Turner Tune seems to really pull much harder than stock in a very noticable way, particularly evident on the highway. The power finally feels the way it should have from the factory. Would certainly recommend it to others.

The more I drive my M3 with the Turner Tune the more I recognize how much faster and responsive the car is. It is a night and day difference, even at part throttle. I'm questioning why anyone would not want to use this tune despite being slightly more expensive.

Eventually, I will get the car dyno'd once the MPE is installed. With the included valet module, it is easy to do an A-B test to see how much more power the engine is making with the tune than stock.

I enjoy the best the low rpm torque, does the tune offer more torque higher rpm and you lose the stock low rpm torque?

No, no, the beauty of the tune is that the low end is slightly enhanced and the mid-range is significantly enhanced. Instead of leveling off, it just keeps thrusting forward with a significant push much stronger than stock. Surprised by how much faster it is. Seems to go from 70 to 110 instantly.

Turner tune totally transforms the car...even with partial throttle. Amazing!

After having turner for about 800 miles I put the valet key on to confirm the difference in power. It is night and day. Surprised I don't see more people embracing their tune. It is a very worthwhile upgrade.

Good to hear!
Did you get a dyno before and after?
Hit the track to test your 1/4 time before / after?

Is the Turner tune an ECU flash, or a box?

NWM, I see in your initial post you say Turner Tuning Box.

I had Turner install it when I was up there. Seems fairly easy to install given only about 3-4 sensor points. The hardest part is running the wires in a factory like fashion. Sorry, I did not take pics as it is under the back right plastic cover.

I chose to not install the accompanying Sprintbooster at the time, because I drive in Sport Plus most of the time and couldn't imagine why anyone would want a more responsive throttle pedal than Sport Plus. Eventually, I put it on when I get bored someday.

You really don't have different Maps like JB4. Personally, I could never understand why a person would want multiple maps. I prefer it in one mode, which for me makes the Tuner box better for my tastes.

Because it's $1500 vs $800 Jb4. Doesn't support race fuel. Doesn't support catless DPs. Rather pay another $1k for Dinan if you don't care for DPs and Race Fuel.

Do what you've got to do. I'm just sharing my driving experience about how effective the Turner Tune is. For me, it was better to see it in person before buying, and then having them install it for me in a very professional manner. Better than saving a few hundred bucks on the unknown.

Guys, Turner Module has 20% off sale right now. I have had nothing but a great experience with mine. Very good value considering it also comes with throttle adjustability switch.

mc3456, are you still happy with the turner tuning box? I'm thinking of getting it now that its for sale at $795.

I had been looking at Active-8, and ESS. I had JB4 on my 550i stage 2 and wasnt too happy with it.

Very happy with it. $795 is great deal for it. If you get it, you won't be disappointed.
