Just Swapped out Winter for Summer Tires

As the title says I just swapped out the 18" winter wheels and tires for the 19" PSS and I am seriously thinking about changing the wheels all together. All the bad noises are back, and it amazes me that when driving on these shit roads it feels and sounds like every piece of gravel that is on the street makes its way onto my wheels. The winter wheels and tires were really good for traction, and I never heard or felt all the gravel when driving over it.

With that said, the 19" wheels and tires feel considerably more comfortable going over bumps and cracks on the street. You could feel every single minor bump on the road with the 18" winter wheels and tires.

Any suggestions for four good summer wheels and tire set up.

If you go with a summer tire that doesn't pick up debris (ie. hard compound) you will sacrifice grip and performance. Depends on what you want. The reason the PSS big up stuff is the rubber is soft. Harder rubber doesn't do this but, as mentioned, there is a trade-off.

If you want the best street tires, PSS are really hard to beat. Likely no better overall tire. For the track, that isn't true.

Hi stranger. I liked your thoughts in the Bridgestone thread re the new RE's....like most everyone that had (have) a set of the RE-11's I loved them so the new ones I expect will be even better. The new M3 is costing an arm and a leg and I have to budget for next winter so a swap this year will be absolutely out of the question. But when I do run the summer PSS's down I'll no doubt be going the Bridgestone route.

Me too... for me mainly because the RE-11 (or RE-71R) is a better dual purpose track/street tire than the PSS.

OP, I hear you. There is so much sand/gravel on the NY streets that it sounds like I'm being pelted.
Can't wait for the stuff to blow to the edges of the road.
