boost by gear
hello, sorry if this answer is out there somewhere but i couldnt find it.
is there currently any tuning solution that allows you to dial in how much boost is allowed in each gear? with all the complaints of traction i would imagine boost by gear would be a necessity |

it can be done...if JB4 can read RPM via CAN, it can be programmed to also read current gear. This could be program into the firmware which is where JB4 shines since it has consistent development

It also lets you reduce boost at 30mph and 50mph. Allowing you to get traction before increasing the boost.
Firmware v3.5 1) Enabled the desperately needed torque limiting for launching. Although the field is labeled "max boost 1st & 2nd" it's actually "boost reduction 30mph & 50mph". As shown here these settings lower boost by 5psi under 30mph and 3psi under 50mph. The actual values can be fine tuned for your particular tires, track, and situation. But this has been working well for us so far during testing. |

that would be boost by rpm, not boost by gear
a typical boost by gear will also allow boost by rpm boost by gear will say allow 11psi 1st gear, 14psi 2nd gear, 3rd gear ramp up to 20psi as the max boost this allows fine tuning of traction and ultimately the ability to adjust at the track if you just cant get traction down low (any car thats traction limited and high tq needs this feature IMO) |

The Jb4 allows boost by rpm and boost by gear. Boost by rpm as i have explained it earlier and boost by gear as you can set the max boost for 30 mph and 50 mph as explained above.

With JB4 stage2 you can limit boost for gears 1 and 2 already now. Terry from BMS also posted today he had imple a boost limiter in 3rd gear for the F8x M3/M4 cars. I also requested it for N55 with 8 speed gearbox as even 3rd gear with stage2 turbo is asking a lot. I am sure he will put it in the next fw revision

Email them and ask for it. Only way they will release a product if more and more people ask. Right now JB4 is the only option to do what you are asking for in terms of boost by gear (Gear 1-3), and the JB only allows you to set it from stock boost to JB4 boost, so you can't reduce it lower then stock targets.
